“ Brand: Lonsdale „
Being a university student, most of my time has been spent meeting assignment deadlines and occasionally shopping for food when the fridge turns out to be empty. Our university has quite a nice gym but the gym membership was £ 200, which was a reduced rate for students, and this probably will go up again this year. I have had a gym membership about 3 years ago, which I paid about £400 and I didn't go enough to get my money's back. So, I decided not to purchase the university gym membership. However, I still want to keep fit and healthy so I decided to purchase a few gym equipments that are easy to store and transport.
These Lonsdale chrome dumbbells are one of the few flexible and portable gym equipments I own for personal use. I decided to purchase two 4kg Lonsdale chrome dumbbells. They are also produced in a range of weights from 6, 8, 10 and over kilograms. To be fair, even if I pay extortionistic amount to go a proper gym, I'll end up using these 4kg weights anyway.
I bought my set of 4kg chrome dumbbells for about £12.00 each at the sports direct store. Since they were reduced from £49.99, I think I paid a reasonably good price for a nice set of dumbells. The chrome finish is of a very good quality and the grip of the dumbbells are non-slip since it's made of rubber or rubber-like material.
My favourite thing about these dumbbells are that they can easily be stored in the storage room under the stairs and I can just take it out whenever I feel like doing some exercise. I use these to strengthen my biceps and triceps.
Personally, these dumbbells are perfect for me because I don't have time to go to a gym even if I have a membership and this saves me precious time during the end of semester where I'm swamped with deadlines. Besides it gives me a break from studying and helps to clear my head.
I decided to purchase the 4kg weights because they are the usual weights I used to exercise with in the gym. I'm not particularly looking to build up arms' muscles so the 4kg are alright for me as I just want to strengthen the stamina and endurance of my arms' muscles. Higher weights might be suitable for those wanting to build up muscles for a specific purpose such as for playing sports etc.
Personally, I think buying these Lonsdale chrome dumbbells are one of the best decisions I've made. I'm glad I decided to go for these dumbbells rather than the £200 gym membership because I saved a lot of money. One of my friend did actually buy the £200 one-year gym membership and she didn't go even once....
Overall, I recommend these Lonsdale dumbbells for anyone looking to keep fit and healthy at a very low cost.
Thank you for reading and reviewing. :) x
After having two children my body changed a little, I had two children one straight after the other so it was a lot of time off my normal active routine and a lot of sitting around and eating.
I put on a little weight on but my main problem was shape, I was completely out of shape and not toned and as I has once dated a bodybuilder I new some exercise routines I could do in front of the telly which suits me as I am not into going to the gym. All I needed to do my exercises I had in mind was a set of dumbells and a nice set of Lonsdale chrome dumbells was what I ended up buying.
Now I wasn't planning on getting big or growing massive muscles I just wanted to tone up and start feeling better so I went for 4kg weights but they also come in three other sizes which are 6kg, 8kg and 10kg. The Lonsdale chrome dumbells are a silver color which have the weight engraved into the side of them, with black rubber grips in the middle which make them easier to hold on to during a workout which I can confirm are reliable and after nearly a year have not peeled away and are still firmly in place.
I paid £10.00 for my 4kg set but if your after something bigger you can pick up a set of 6kg for £12.00, 8kg for 15.00 or 10kg for £16.00 but if you search the internet you may be able to pick them up cheaper.
There are hundreds of workouts you can do with these dumbells and they are a great way of staying toned, fit and in shape the set I bought around a year ago still look brand new and are being used to this today so I can safely say that they are most certainly worth the money I paid for them.
If you have children then you need to make sure these dumbells are stored away properly as they can be dangerous for children to be messing about with but these are certainly something which I would recommend as they are durable, reliable and also look great. My dumbells are getting used less since I bought a exercise bike but they have done a wonderful job on my body and still being used today.
I have a long term problem with my wrist. Long story.
Short version - stupid accident, undiagnosed broken bone, torn ligaments, working with said broken wrist for six weeks, seven weeks in old skool plaster. Anyway, the result was that when the offending limb was cut free it had managed to heal well enough to avoid pinning but was mostly decorative. Strength and full mobility were a distant dream on the other side of lots of hard work doing the exercises the physiotherapist gave me. I was at university when this happened and the gym was free, close to halls and the bar for rehydration afterwards and with a lot of work I got my hand functional as well as decorative.
The problem is that my wrist does remain damaged and needs me to keep the muscles around it in good condition for it to keep working properly and if I fail it, it retaliates and flakes on me. So when I started full time work rather than long vacation bar jobs, I joined the gyms my companies offered and kept my wrist happy that way. Then I stopped working for the companies which offered those free gym deals and joined one nearish to me. This was a long cold wet walk in wintertime though and expensive.
So I figured, why not get the weights I use for the wrist exercises and do them in the comfort and warmth of home and in front of the telly and save the getting wet and paying far too much money to Mr Branson.
So I bought a pair of these.
I went for the 5kg weights and have never regretted the purchase.
They have lived under the sofa and have never scratched despite many close encounters with the hoover. They have been thrown into the storage cupboard and left for rather too long when I have been a naughty, lazy bunny and come back shiny and fully functional.
The rubber grips have not slipped out of my hands even when I have exercised intensively and worked up a sweat, nor have they parted company with the metal of the dumbells themselves. I bought them well over ten years ago and they still look shiny and new, despite lots of hard use.
It is important to know what you are doing with free weights as a five kg dumbell can do you some damage if you use if wrong - or drop it on your foot - so I would heartily recomemend only using these or lighter dumbells after learning from the professionals how to use them safely, properly and to the best effect.
Of course it is important keep them away from small children who could do themselves an injury with something hard and unyeilding.
But with all this in mind, if and when you do and are ready for your own set at home, or need to cancel that expensive gym subscription but still need and want to do weights, I cannot recommend these highly enough.
I bought mine from Lillywhites in Piccadilly before it became a sad shadow of itself - and got some good exercise lugging home 10kg of weights back to my then flat. As we now live in the future, Amazon will do the lugging home for you and provide a range of weights for all your needs.
The 4kg ones are a bargain at between £10-16. My 5kgs would set you back £30.42 - but that is still cheaper than a few weeks of gym membership in Central London.
You won't regret buying them and you get to use them in the warmth and comfort of your own home with your own bath products to enjoy after using them.
I recently joined my local gym and am currently having sessions with a personal trainer. I like to keep fit but when it comes to the gym I have no idea what equipment to use and how to really use so I thought some guidance would be really useful. With my personal trainer I do various different exercises to help tone up my body and to get fit & healthy. On my most recent sessions I have been using some dumbbells weights down the gym. These aren't really heavy but they aren't light either. I already have some weight at home; how-ever these only got up to 2.5kg which is nothing considering I have been lifting about 12kg at the gym! I decided I wanted to get some heavier weights for when I train at home & can't get to the gym. I looked on various different websites for some dumbbells but couldn't really find many until I look on the sport direct website.

The dumbbells are by Lonsdale and are made from Chrome. They come in a range of different weights including 4, 6, 8 and 10kg. They also have a rubberised grip so you can grip the dumbbells better when using them to work out. I actually decided to purchase the 10kg as I was lifting 12kg at the gym. I thought if I used the 10kg one at home this would help me tone up a little and also help to build my strength up too. The weights are designed for increasing upper body and arm strength so this was perfect for what I wanted it for. I wouldn't have said that the dumbbells were the most attractive things to look at how-ever they were such a bargain which is another reason why I decided to purchase one. I did only purchase 1 single dumbbell as a lot of the exercises I would do with one arm and then change to the other. On each end of the dumbbells is has the weight engraved into it so you can see what weight you are lifting.

I saw the dumbbells on the Sports Direct website, so decided to ring my local store to see if they any in stock. The guy on the end of the phone told me they had none, how-ever I decided to go & have a look for myself. Sure enough I found the weights in store. They had every weight in there and although they looked quite scratched and slightly tatty from reduced labels on them I inspected one of the weights and purchased one. The 10kg weight from the store cost me £18.00 and on the website it's priced at £16.00. The weight is actually priced at £49.99 at full price so I thought this was such a bargain.
Small (4kg) - £10.00
Medium (6kg) - £12.00
Large (8kg) - £15.00
Extra Large (10kg) - £16.00
Using the Dumbbell

The 10kg weight is obviously rather large and quite heavy, so care needs to be taken when using the weight. When using weights for the first time or if you are a beginner it's always best to start off with a weight that's suitable for you. Start off light and you can then work your way up to heavier weights. It's important to always warm up and cool down after any exercise and be very careful when using weights as if they are dropped, the dumbbell, floor and your feet can suffer as results of this. I have used the dumbbell for various exercises and find it very comfortable to hold due to the rubberised handle grip. Even when my hands start to feel hot and a little sweaty the weight doesn't slide out of my hand because of the grip. The weight isn't too light for me but also isn't too heavy and is about right. I have only started using the dumbbell so I can't comment much more than I already have but this is sure to help me strengthen up a little with regular use. If the weather is nice I will take the dumbbell out into the garden to exercise, but if this isn't possible I'll just do it in my bedroom.

I think the dumbbell was brilliant value for money and I highly recommend these to others. All the dumbbells are reduced so you can't go wrong, even if you purchase a few different sizes to use. I only use weights to help tone me up and build up strength. I don't intend to start lifting really heavy weights and end up looking like Jodie Marsh. I actually really enjoy lifting the weights and using them for various different exercises to help tone me up. The weight I purchased did have a lot of scratches on it; how-ever this really didn't bother me at all. I haven't actually found any flaws or faults with this product and for the reduced price I can't complain about anything. This is a great product from Lonsdale and a great price from Sports Direct.
