Advantages: Extra warmth in the feet

I have been upgrading some of my hiking and camping gear recently and one of the first things I wanted to replace was my rather batterred and well used sleeping bag that is no longer providing the same level of warmth that it once did and also has seen beter days with the off tear here and there and to be honest if it ever got wet it would take an age to dry out as the water would get inside the body of the sleeping bag.

I reently upgraded to a Marmot Womens Angle Fire sleeping bag. Like a lot of women I really feel the cold in my feet and what I like about this particular bag is that it is designed with women like me in mind as there is extra grams of down stuffed into the foot sections of the bag so giving extra insulation in that area. There is also additional down in the core and also more importantly the hood area so you feel nice and warm after only a couple of minutes inside the bag.

It compresses down into a small area using the compression bag, roughly 40x30 I reckon and it weights in at 1.8kg. The blue colour is not exactly my choice but ths was the only one ion the shop and instead of the usual £160 retail price it was on sale for £110 so I was happy to make a compromise for a £50 saving. Havin used it a couple of times now it is very warm and comfortable wiuth a good quality zip and the extra padding also provides more comfort as well as heat. It is good for temperatures down to -10 according to the label but I would not want to put that test to the claim, certainly at about 5 degrees it was very comfortable.
