The NBA is probably the best basketball league there is in the world maybe because it's one of the biggest sports in America and everyone that wants play works hard to play in the best league. I have been watching the NBA for about 5 years now. And I can't wait when summer is over because I know that the NBA season is just round the corner. The skill that these players have is amazing, when I play with my mates where always trying to copy Iverson's crossover or tony parkers up and under, or if we lower the net jam it like Jordan. I was a bit too young to see Michael Jordan play but he's probably the big reason I started playing and watching the game. Ever since space jam came out I must have seen the film 20 times in past couple of years I don't care how old I am. Lol.

The NBA is made up of 30 teams. There are two conferences the Western conference and Eastern conference, maybe because America is so big. Each conference has 3 leagues each league has 5 teams.
Eastern conference-
Atlantic division
Boston Celtics, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors.
Central Division
Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Milwaukee Bucks.
Southeast Division
Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards.
Western Conference-
Northwest Division
Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Portland Trail Blazers, Utah Jazz.
Pacific Division-
Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings.
Southwest Division-
Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Hornets, San Antonio Spurs.
I think it's a great idea that any city or man with a team can join the league at any time, because is the late forties the NBA was established there were only 8 team to begin with, out of that 8 only the New York Nicks and the Boston Celtics have remained in the same city.
The 40's and 50's- In 1946 the NBA was founded. When they were first found there was not a professional league, but some people had try to establish one, but failed. It wasn't till 1949 that the BAA agreed to merge with the NBL to form a new league as we all know the NBA. In 1959, Wilt Chamberlin was drafted and he set many records. This brought in many new rules including goal tending and 24 seconds shot clock. I don't think the NBA really started until 1984, when Michael Jordan was drafted into the NBA. Michael is probably known as the best basketball player ever. He brought basketball to a whole new level, making crazy dunks all the time. But that's not what he always did, he was also known for one of the best outside shooters. On top of that, he was also great on defense. That's why from 1990-1993, he Scottie Pippin and the rest of the Chicago bulls won there first three-pea. Jordan would retire that season to play baseball for a couple of season only to return for another three years. They said that when he returned that basketball merchandise rose 200% in sales. Also for them three years he won another three titles. In my mind I do see him as one of, if not the best player of all time and made NBA what its today.
Half way through the season they have an All-Star game, where you can actually vote for any player and the player with most votes from each conference, go to a chosen city to participate in all-star weekend. Where they have a dunk contest - This where they see who can perform the best dunks. And three point contest, skills challenge, etc. they also raise money for many different charities. Which I think is great where all the best player come together for your personal benefits. But there also player for good causes as well.
At the moment the play-offs are in there final stage and it's between the Lakers and Orlando. The play-offs are 8 of the best teams from each league play each other in a best of 7 series (first to 4). This means that even if you do win the most games in the season doesn't mean your going to win the NBA play-offs, its sort of like the rugby league play-offs but much bigger.
Through the play-offs awards are given to player that has performed the best of the regular season in different categories. These awards are-
MVP (Most valuable player), this award is given to a player that has performed the best over the year.
Rookie of the year. For the best rookie
Defensive player of the year. For the best defender.
Most improved, 6th man, there are many more awards for thing like best points scorer, etc.
To some up I think that watching the NBA is best thing I have done because most people think basketball is just put a ball through a hoop, but if you watch one game yourself you will see how difficult it is. And that it is a sport and they do play to entertain us. But you can see how hard they work to try and become the best there is.
Thanks

Summary: Must watch a game

Good review. Judicious use of spacing would have made it easier to read, but i can't fault the content. Go Knicks! 8^)
