... looks so easy. Players holding a small ball and running with it. This is deceiving because netball requires a sharp mind and a good player has to read the game. Players with ability to move at fast pace have an edge too. Netball is perhaps the only sport where women have advantage over men due to sharp thinking and agile bodies. There is a women's world cup tournament. Australia has won this about 95% of the time. Netball is on Euro sport. They mostly cover European matches....more

Premium Review Netball: Not just for school girls (565 words)

Netball was my favourite team sport while at school and up until a year ago I used to play for a league team however work has got in the way recently but I'm hoping to take it up again soon. Netball is played on a court and the objective of the game is to score more points than the opposition. Teams comprise of seven players and they have assigned positions. There are estrictions on where each player can go on the court, for exampl only the Goal Attack and the Goal Shooter are able to enter the attacking area and take shots at goal. Similarly on the defense on the goal keeper and goal defence can enter this area as well. This means that while ...

Netball is an indoor sport played in many schools. It is a sport mostly played by women. The proper netball teams have seven members. Each player is only allowed to play in certain parts of the playing surface. Point is scored when the ball is thrown in the goal post which is similar in size to goals used in hockey. The beauty of this sport is (other than mostly women playing it) lack of contact between players and fouls. I played netball once in school when football was called off due to bad weather. When you watch netball it all looks so easy. Players holding a small ball and running with it. This is deceiving because netball requires a sharp mind ...

As some of you will know I am a keen Netballer and have been since the age of 11. Netball is a unique game and is played at a tremendously fast pace. In a nutshell netball is played by 2 teams of 7 players, with each player playing in one position. Each position has restricted areas of the court (which is divided into thirds by the way). The aim of the game is to beat your opponent by scoring more goals than them, simple really. Netball developed from Basketball which in turn was invented in 1891. By 1897 the game had moved outdoors and the court had been split into 3 sections. By 1924 the London and Home Counties Netball Federation was formed with the aim of ...
