Advantages: One of a few mainly girls sports.

Disadvantages: Not many

It is good because it's the only sport traditionally aimed at girls and because boys and girls are seperated for PE in schools it is played more by girls. So most teams are friendly and most of the time you get invited for biscuits and squash. But men's and the mixed games are becoming more popular as traditional sports are becoming more widely-spread. The game is played in nearly every country in the world, with one governing international body, the International Federation of Netball Associations, or the IFNA.

Netball is different from basketball in that netball is based more on the throwing and catching part of things as opposed to basketball, which is more speed and dodging.
The aim of the game is pretty much the same as for all sports, score as many goals as possile, whilst preventing the opposing team from scoring goals.

The game is played in four time periods of 15 minutes each, with breaks between each period. One of the rules is the 3-second rule, which says that you have to either pass the ball or try to score a goal in that period.
One problem is that you are not allowed to move with the ball but you are allowed to move the foot you landed on, which makes it a hard game. The ball is lighter in Netball than in basketball because it is traditionally aimed at girls (I am not being sexist), all though only by a bit. It is not a game that will be over quickly but you can change the times for your group. It is overall a very good game.
