Advantages: Light, looks good

Disadvantages: Ultra delicate tubing, poor rims, only Deore?

I got this bike about 2 months ago after having my Gary Fisher Big Sur stolen! Orange as a brand were recommended to me by a lot of people. I took the bike out for a test ride and yes, initially I was very pleased with it. I upgraded the front and rear mechs to XT though as the Deore that comes as standard just don't look the part on a bike in this price range. However, after taking the bike out on my local trails ( the Quantock hills in Somerset), a number of gripes have come to light. Firstly the bike does not respond to sharp turns very well, i.e it handles a bit sluggishly. Secondly after about an hour of off road riding, the rims on the wheels scraped to bits and are now chrome coloured as opposed to the original black. The frame is fairly good, certainly lightweight and looks strong with excellent welding. I stored the bike inside my house overnight and unfortunately it took a tumble about 2 ft onto a door frame and now has a dent in the centre of the top tube! I could not believe that a bike of this so called calibre would have such thin tubing. I would strongly recommend any persons thinking about buying this bike to think hard and compare it with other bikes in the same price range, as I certainly am not that impresseed! Not a patch on my old Gary Fisher.....
