Leki Trail Walking Poles
by nodbod1
I have 2 walking poles. One is Leki Trail and the other is a Brasher walking pole. They were purchased at different times which is why they are odd. Having 2 brands has given me the opportunity to compare them and I prefer the Brasher pole.
The Leki Trail walking pole is okay, but not perfect. Having a pole is better than ... no pole, and having 2 poles is more than twice as good for your joints as having one pole. So, having the Leki pole is a good thing, but there are better poles available on the market.
The main problem with the Leki Trail walking pole is that the gripping mechanism that holds the pole at the desired length is not as robust and dependable as on other brands. I have lost count of the number of times I have pressed down on the pole with only the normal amount of force and it has shortened itself rather than supporting my weight as I walked. It has 3 sections, therefore 2 section joints, and it seems to be both joints that suffer this weakness of grip.
The handle is comfortable enough, and the wrist strap is good, but they don't outweigh the problem of the pole shortening itself! Read the complete review |

We have a whole range of sports bottles/drinking flasks for our children. Some bought by us, some given as presents and they all have one thing in common.....they leak!! If not at first, then within a few weeks. Most of them are fine for using at home, but if we attempt to chuck them in a rucksack for a trip out we invariably come ... home with a soggy bag.
My mum recommended these to me ages ago but I never got round to buying them. Then I spotted them on the Ocado website for £2.75 each...I could get them with my supermarket shopping! Easy! One pink one and one blue one in the basket :-)
As they were recommended to me I didn't really pay much attention to the finer details before I ordered them. When they arrived I was pleased to see that they are BPA free and made from Lead Free Virgin Materials. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe, so another two boxes ticked there!
The bottle is made from a thin, flexible plastic and is slightly hour glass shaped, this, along with the grooves on the side make it much easier for small hands to grip. The flexible plastic also means you can squeeze the bottle to make the drink come out quicker. The lid is made from a tougher plastic. Once screwed on all you have to do is twist the top (in the same direction as you would to open it) to make the spout appear. The section that needs twisting is ribbed so it's easy to grip and it twists without too much pressure so little ones can manage it. Twist it in the other direction to close it. It's easy to see when it is fully closed as the spout lies flush with the top, there's also a little 'click' to re-assure you the job is done properly! Once twisted down the bottle is sealed and completely leak proof!!
We've only had our bottles a couple of months, but my mum has been using hers for much longer and they are still going strong, so don't by put off by the thinner plastic, it is in no means inferior to a harder plastic...in fact it probably withstands the knocks and bumps better than some of our more solid bottles!
These bottles are available in a range of colours so it's easy to differeniate whose is whose if the whole family are using them. I am so pleased with them that I intend to buy another two for my husband and I to use when we're out for the day. There is also a larger size I might try too!
So far these bottles are a winner and tick all my boxes! I just wish I'd discovered them years ago! Read the complete review |

Sistema Twister Bottle

I find that having a water bottle makes me drink more water for some reason and of course it's a practical way of being able to drink on the move whether it be while running/jogging or simply in the car. I usually purchase bottled water as I hate the thought of drinking tap water, however since having this I've been putting filtered ... water in it and filling it up throughout the day which saves me a little money as buying bottled water soon adds up.
I bought this around three weeks ago from Amazon as I had a little money left from a voucher. These bottles are pretty cheap and although they vary in price depending on where you get them from, you can easily get one for under a fiver. They're quite widely available and can be purchased from a range of supermarkets including Asda and Sainsbury's. I paid £4.50 for mine which is a little more expensive than the £2 that it's selling for in Asda, but I am happy with the price I paid and seeing as I've been using it daily since purchasing it, I feel like I've already got my money's worth!
This is a medium sized bottle which is made of lightweight plastic. The bottle is sturdy enough not to give way if squeezed which is good as it doesn't leak in my gym bag if my trainers etc are on top of it putting weight on it - although I do usually put it in the inside compartment of my bag just to be on the safe side! The bottle is pretty wide but easy to grip due to the indents on each side and even when it is full of liquid it isn't so heavy that it adds a lot of weight to my gym bag or is uncomfortable to hold.
The bottle is available in a few different sizes - 330ml, 460ml and 700ml. I have the 460ml which is more than enough to keep me hydrated during an hours workout and a 330ml would be just the right size for a child's lunch box. There is a wide choice of bright colours to choose from including pink, blue and green, so these will really appeal to children. I have a pink one, which some people might think is a bit childish (I'm nearly 21) but to be honest I don't really care about the colour as long as it does the job of holding liquid securely and I do like that it's colourful as it's a bit more exciting than a boring black or white bottle!
The bottle has a unique twist 'n' sip lid which is easy to open and close. The manufacturers state that the lid is a more hygienic way to drink and that it is leak proof. I really like the lid as it's easier to drink from than a cup or bottle of water with a wider opening when I'm on the treadmill. The bottle is BPA free which means that there are no chemicals in it and it is both freezer proof and dishwasher safe. The bottle is very easy to clean as once the lid is off the opening is large enough to be wiped out with a j-cloth.
I overall reccommend this bottle. It's cheap, sturdy and I've never had any problems with it leaking. Read the complete review |
