“ Brand: Spearmark / Type: Water Bottle „
Hollie's school has had water fountains installed to replace their old tower type water coolers, the main advantage to this (in Hollie's opinion) being that she can now take a bottle into school as the tap on the fountain is higher than on the previous machine which would only fill small plastic cups. We went shopping a couple of days before she went back to school, and she chose this Peppa Pig drinks bottle from Wilkinsons. Well, not EXACTLY this one - the bottle comes in a range of designs, Hollie's is pink with a nice blue contrasting lid and cute picture of Peppa holding her teddy in a cheerful fairground outdoors scene. Balloons are floating in the beautiful blue sky and the whole thing looks lovely; the bottom is flat to allow me to carefully write Hollie's name, important as the bottle stays in school all week and only comes home for washing at the weekend. To fill the bottle you simply unscrew the lid and hold it under the tap or fill from your water filter, when your child needs a drink they pull the spout up (fingers, not teeth!) and suck away until their thirst is satisfied. Although this has mainly been used at school I let Hollie use it a few times before she went back so she could get used to it, and I could check there were no issues. She's able to drink at a speed to suit her as the water doesn't flow through the spout at an amazingly fast pace, but if she's really thirsty she knows to suck harder and she'll get more water through quicker. Hardly rocket science I know, but sometimes you have to explain the simplest things to the brightest of children! The bottle doesn't leak once closed and the water comes through in a smooth stream rather than a spitty dribble, unlike some similar but cheaper water bottles! The bottle is a reasonable size and holds around 350ml, this is a rough guess as there are no measurements on the bottle but I watched her fill it from her drinking glass at home - this glass holds 400ml but it didn't quite all fit into the Peppa Pig bottle. Hollie only uses hers for water as that's all they're allowed to drink in school but it's one of those bottles which would be suitable for squash or any weakish water-based drinks - as always, milk or thick juices are a no-no as eventually they'll make the drinks bottle smell and are pretty much impossible to thoroughly remove. It's easy to wash in hot soapy water, the wide neck means you can fit a slimline dish washing brush inside to ensure you can get to the bottom to remove bacteria or even actual dirt (kids are so mucky!). I paid £1.89 for Hollie's bottle and think that's excellent value for money, not only because it's an extremely useful item but also because of the Peppa Pig branding.
I have two daughters, the eldest is 5 and the youngest is 2, the 2 year old still uses some of her toddler beakers but has a couple of sports bottles she uses too and my elder daughter uses sports bottles as she is forver leaving her drinks where her sister can reach and after quite a few spilliages I got a bit fed up. I bought both my daughters new sports bottles for taking on holiday with them as both of them tend to chew the tops and I didn't want them wandering around on holiday with scruffy looking bottles. I picked this bottle for my elder daughter and my youngest daughter got a George pig one. The bottles came off Amazon which is where I buy numerous household items as I find them really good value and then I don't have to trail the shops looking for one thing. I bought the bottles back in July time and each one was about £3 with free delivery which is not a bad price for a character bottle although if you are not bothered about characters then you can get them much cheaper. The bottle is made of plastic and is mainly blue in colour, it had a paler blue screw top cap and front which has Peppa Pig on it surrounded by bubbles which she is blowing. When I ordered this my daughter was still really into Peppa Pig however as it arrived she started being more interested in Hello Kitty so wasn't all that impressed when she saw it until I said I would give it to her younger sister and suddenly it was apparently her favourite bottle. The bottle is pretty good, it is durable trust me it has been dropped many times, the lid is quite stiff to pull up and down at first but this loosens pretty quickly and then it is easy to use and best of all when it's closed it doesn't leak. The bottle isn't exactly easy to wash and I actually use an old bottle brush from when Emily was a baby to wash it out as you cannot get a cloth inside and I never let the girls have milk or the like in these bottles. I gave my daughter this in September and it has been used loads since, I have found that the picture on the font is starting to wear in places now which Sophie is not impressed about. The bottle is pretty good value in my opinion and saves my carpets and furniture being covered in juice.
