This is my first own harness. I’m recently new to climbing (about 9 months now) and have loved it from day one. I have now come to the point of hating the crapy harness our club loans to us to use, and I was feed up of being castrated at every climbing session.
It was time to invest in my own harness. I really recommend one store to go to for climbing equipment if you live in north Essex. Field and trek. Here they had a wide range of harness, which you could try on. They even had a rope which you can tie into and suspend your self to see how comfy the harness actually would be which was excellent.
The main features of this harness which attracted it to me has that it had lovely padded straps which were wide at the back so your load would be spread reducing the pressure. Also the straps were thinner at the front so do not restrict movement. The leg loops of the harness are padded too. These loops are lower down than the ones we had at the cub which is good for the men out there where comfort is every thing around there.
There are for gear loops which each can hold 5 kg of equipment. Also there is a loop for your chalk bag.
There are three loops on it for belaying and tying in on. There is a blue middle loop, which you use for belaying (attaching the crab to). The two other ones are used to put the rope through when climbing.
The buckles on this harness are different to normal one, which you double back for safety. When I was trying on the harness this was what concerned me how safety the harness would be. But when I came to taking the harness off, I was assured how safe it would be as it takes a certain knack to undo it. There are two waist buckles which allow the harness to be centred.

Over all this is an excellent harness, for beginners. It cost me £47.99. There is lots of room for extra clothing to be worn with it and I’m not the thinnest of people.
