Advantages: weight loss, less pain, cheap to do at home
Disadvantages: finding the time
I am a big suffer of back pain and restless legs and from seeing a physo therapist I was told that regular gentile excersise to streach my muscles and get them working again would make the world of a difference.
After I had my second child I had some weight to shift I couldnt go to the gym I just didnt have any spare time or a baby sitter, so I invested in Jennifer Pohlman's pilates. What made me buy it was the fact that it came with a dvd and 3 streachbands and also a book to show me how to do the exersise.
When I got it back home and put my daughter down to sleep I got it out for a try. I wont say it was easy the woman proved how flexable she was and how much I wasnt and how anyone can do these exersises without these streach bands is beyond me they gave me that little bit more stability and support.
After a few days of doing the dvd I noticed that my back pain was not so bad due to the exersise had been working my back muscles and also helping my posture which was the cause of my pain. I also noticed that my legs didnt seem to ache so much and feel like they needed to be streached all the time it had helped with my circulation. The biggest bonus of all I was losing weight slowly but still losing it.
It is only a 20 minute work out and even being pregnant now I still manage to do some of the exersises just at an easier pace which keeps me fit and helps with the uncomfortableness of pregnancy. I can also manage to do the exersises with the children awake who usually find it fun to try and join in just to rub it in how agile they are compared to me I think.
This cost me £10 from the Works book store on a special christmas deal 2 years ago and I would recommend this to anyone men or women it is quite easy to do and the 3 streach bands are at different levels easy medium and hard. This type of exersise helps all kinds of body problems and I have recently found out that rugby players do this exersise to keep their muscles supple I really dont blame them. I would tell anyone to give it a try.
