Great clubhead, rubbish stock shaft (Ping G10 Driver)
Member Name: bobby_2807
Advantages: Clubhead, value Disadvantages: Ping TFC shaft Another solid product from Ping. I had the 7.5 degree with a Fuji Rombax 7Z08 X flex shaft. Great launch angle and trajectory for my needs, I'm a links player and prefer a low ball flight. Never actually been on a launch monitor with this combination, so can't give the exact specs. I would recommend going for one of the upgrade shaft options. Some are free, I think the Grafalloy PL Red and UST V2 High Launch are both available for no upcharge, and they are a significant improvement over the stock Ping shaft (I don't understand why they persist with making their own shafts to be honest). The feel/sound off this club is spot on for me, not tinny like a Cobra, or dull like a Titleist, but between the two. The headshape is great, a classic, slightly pear shape. My only niggle with this club is the half moon on the crown, which is claimed to be an alignment aid, but it doesn't do anything for me, but catch your eye when you should be focusing on the ball. However it is not as pronounced as on the G5 model. Overall, another success from Ping. Summary: Get a shaft upgrade and you've got a rocket launcher |
