Polar are a leading manufacturer of heart rate monitors, suitable for all types of exerciser - from the occasional to the athlete. Why Would You Want a Heart Rate Monitor? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you asked me a few months ago I might have wondered the same thing. If you are interested in improving your personal fitness then one of the best indicators to see if you are reaching your goals is your heart. Depending on your reasons for undertaking exercise, the level of exercise you do in order to reach your goal will vary - for example someone aiming just to lose some weight will not undertake such intense exercise as someone wanting to excel at ... Polar Heart Rate Monitor. OK, just a warning- this is a LONG review- the Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) Has taught me so much and is also a very useful tool. I wanted to give it a decent review for what it is. This was what I spent my last Dooyoo miles on (- and half the reason I no longer have time to log all my purchases on here also!). OK, Bought from Amazon (obviously: dooyoo miles= Amazon vouchers!) this was £72 at the time. As you may already know, Amazons prices bounce around a bit so you may find this HRM higher or lower- keep your eye on it if you're thinking of getting one. What is a Heart Rate Monitor? Well, ... Got a Polar RS800sd for christmas, and have been messing about/training with it for about a week now. And here are my thoughts on this wonderful piece of training equipment: = The Good = Top of the range HR monitor for runners, as good as it gets. Decent-sized display screen, found it easy to read my HR data etc off the screen while running New W.I.N.D. technology for better transmission between HR monitor strap and the watch itself - read that the older technology sometimes led to the watch reading off someone else's HR strap when in close proximity, which can be a hassle. Easy transfer of training ... Read the complete review

I have had this Heart Rate for 2 months now (since mid jan) and absolutely love it. Despite being an aspiring athlete aiming for high performance, I was also on a very tight budget and found that many of the other features available in some of the more expensive models (I found this for £35) just weren't really necessary. All you need for training using an HRM is to know your heart rate, not calories expended or fat burned, it is very simple to work out what levels to exercise at with guidance from the instruction booklet provided. This is the cheapest and most reliable form of HRM that you are going to find. Polar are a world renowned brand and the product ... Read the complete review

As a sports scientist, I have learnt to trust polar equipment to deliver the results one needs when reliability is an issue. I have used, professionally a number of their monitors, and personally own two, including the S710. Their equipment is used in many professional settings, which is a real testament to their quality. The only drawbacks to the system are battery replacement, where you have to send-off the belt for replacement, and the complexity of using the monitors (unless used frequently, you'll find that you have to refer to the instructions). The range is reasonably priced, with deals to be had by shopping around. The software available is excellent, a real ... Read the complete review
