Advantages: great for reaction and hand-eye coordination

Disadvantages: have to be used properly otherwise won't work

These are a great training aid for anybody playing sport which requires good hand eye coordination, such as cricket (fielding in particular), rugby (catching the bouncing ball) or baseball (fielding again) ofcourse these are just a few examples, most sports will require hand eye coordination to a certain extent.

Reaction balls are rather odd looking things, they are essentially a normal ball, but with six semi-sphere's pertruding from the central core, giving the ball a very stange appaerance. When thrown threw the air they behave similarly to any other ball, but when thrown against a surface they act very differently indeed.

The concept is to throw the ball against the floor or a wall at speed. It will impact on any of the semi-sphere's and rebound in an unknown direction and speed, testing your reactions, speed and agility in the process. I've used these on a few occasions during coaching sessions and they achieve their goal and are actually quite fun to use, which is half the battle itself.

Children would just see them as a fun toy, but serious sportsmen and sportswomen will really gain benefit from using these, they keep you thinking and anticipating the balls movement - skills required for many sports. They're available to buy in a range of sizes, from tennis ball sort of size upto about softball size and their fairly cheap too, about £5.00 I think.
