Walking boots have gone through many stages of evolution over the last few decades, from heavy leather uppers and soles with metal studs to the lightweight high technology designs used today.

Perhaps the best three season boot I have come across is the Salomon X-Adventure 7, which uses a combination of leather and fabric upper, with a super sticky and long lasting sole. As a biker, I tend to use the boots for the journey as well when I'm at my destination. Clomping around in biking boots all day is not very practical, whereas the Salomon?s are great for everyday wear given that its not too hot.

They are extremely comfortable, need no breaking in and are a reasonable weight for a three-season boot. They are also a good-looking boot with the added bonus of a waterproof membrane. Highly recommended, and available from all good climbing and outdoor shops.
