Advantages: Solid, warm, and not over priced!!

Disadvantages: Can be bulky for everyday rambles and after hike pub visits!!

I have been using the same pair for 2 years now, and never looked back. Yes a large investment was made, but with the usual Scarpa quality I was happy to make the investment.

The boots needed very little breaking in, slightly rigid to start, but you expect this and need this from a 3-4 season, hard wearing boot. Once I had them on for a day they were perfect.

They are slightly bulky...for the hung over approach to the ominous peak looming in the bleak morning, (why am I doing this you ask yourself!!). Once on the accent, beit a simply incline, grade 3 scramble or worse, I have apsolute faith in these boots.

For winter, they offer soild crampon placements, again allowing for you to put full faith in the boot, whatever the conditions!!

Waterproof, untill you take a leap of faith into that muddy bog and feel it run over top, gaiters I hear you shout, why yes, maybe I should talk about them in a future review. Warmth is a key issue, but sweaty and muggy? No, they are quite a delight to use with the old feet. I won't go as far as to say your feet come out fresh and smelling or ripe apples and roses, but they are not as bad as many I have worn.

As a mountain leader, I hold these boots in high regard as a tool of the trade!!

If you intend to do serious hiking, or rambling, and want value for money. These are the boots!!
