Advantages: Great comfort, free movement of arms and legs

Disadvantages: Higher end bags are a bit pricey....

I'd been banging on to anyone who'd listen that I wanted a Selk' bag, ever since I saw them being sold by one of them teams in an episode of The Apprentice this year. Fortunately for me I have a great girlfriend who suprised me on my birthday and had bought me a one!

In a nutshell, a Selk' Bag is a sleeping bag with arms, legs and a hood, giving you feedom of movement that a traditional sleeping bag just doesn't. How many times have you tried to shuffle around your house in a sleeping bag, only to fall flat?! You can move your arms and legs freely, und unzip the end of your arms so that your hands are free (particularly useful if you're wearing it around the house and are curled up on the sofa wanting to use the TV remote!)

The Selk' Bag is available in 3 differents specs, depending (as with other slepping bags) on season:

Lippi Selk' Bag 1

The Lippi Selk'Bag1 has been developed with warmth and value for money in mind. It's ideal for summer festivals, a comfortable option for couch potatoes and a fantastic choice for everyday camping.

The temperature ratings are a particularly strong point of the Lippi Selk'Bag1:

Extreme Temp: -8.4 Degrees Celcius
Limit Temp: +5.5 Degrees Celcius
Comfort Temp: +9.7 Degrees Celcius

The Lippi Selk'Bag2

The Lippi Selk'Bag2 is lighter in weight, slightly higher in extreme temperature, and more comfortable than the Lippi Selk'Bag1. This would be the best option for those frequent campers who would like a good extreme temperature sleeping bag with an equal comfortablity factor. The Lippi Selk'Bag2 is more comfortable than the Lippi Selk'Bag1.

The Lippi Selk'Bag3

The Lippi Selk'Bag3 is the ultimate in sleeping comfort and is the highest in quality of the Lippi Selk'Bag range. For those who would like to treat themselves to the comfort of a combination of white duck down and feather. The Lippi Selk'Bag3's light weight and natural down allows for a more comfortable sleep on those longer trips.

Prices vary from about £79 for a Selk' bag one to £229 for a Selk' bag 3.

My Verdict

So far I have only used my Selk' bag around the house (I have a Selk Bag 1) and it is absolutely superb. It's great when you get back from a night out and dive straight into it. I'm sure that over the winter months it'll be a great alternative to having the heating on full blast. I've been to a few festivals this year too and have seen people wearing Selk' bags.

A few points to note:

1) It is not waterproof - but to be fair few sleeping bags are
2) It has no zip down below so if you want to go to the toilet lads you need to take it off!
3) It's washable, great as i've already managed to spill kebab on mine!
4) It rolls up as simply as a standard sleeping bag.

Summary

Overall a great quality sleeping bag with a twist, that does not compromise on any aspect of a warm, comfotable night's sleep. Makes a unique gift. But make sure you buy the correct size and buy the appropriate model according to what you intend to use it for.....

Summary: Great for yourself or great as a unique gift...
