It was my birthday a few weeks ago and as usual my family members (immediate family) always complain that they don't know what to buy me. I'm by no means a girl that has everything I just seem to be very particular about what I like and generally I am just asked to give suggestions of what I am in need of or what I'd like and then they at least have an idea about what to buy. This year I already knew what I would like and I was able to point out a few items which I was wanting making it very easy for my parents and siblings to buy for me. One item I had put on my wanted list was a boot bag. Yes, not very exciting but when you are around horses and dogs all day it is a requirement!
My previous boot bag really had given up the zip had broken it was looking tatty and really did need replacing. After browsing a sale catalogue which had come through my door for an equestrian store I noticed the Sherwood Forest Buttermere Boot Bag with 35% off. Sherwood Forest is an equestrian brand with budget friendly prices making their items incredibly affordable for all, they do tend to specialise in clothing mainly as I haven't seen any horse related items. I've never really had any of their products before but for a boot bag at 35% off I immediately informed my very kind sister who was able to order it as a birthday present.
The Sherwood Forest Buttermere Boot Bag comes in either navy or bright pink with a slight polka dot effect which is by embroidered contrasting thread. I asked for the navy version simply because I'm not a fan of bright pink and with carrying muddy boots I thought navy was a far more practical colour. Despite having a boot bag for when I go to competitions which house my leather boots I needed a boot bag for my Hunters and muckers to save my car getting ridicoulsly dirty hence why I wanted another boot bag and at such a reasonable price the Sherwood Forest Buttermere Boot Bag seemed ideal.
The boot bag itself is made from durable nylon with a PVC base and the whole concept is that it carries your dirty boots around whilst keeping everywhere else clean. The navy version has pink contrasting spots which is nice but dark enough not to show up marks or dirt which is nice too. Despite being made of quite a durable material the bag is actually quite light even when you have your wellies or boots in there. The PVC base acts as a support to help the bag stand up when in use and obviously offers a waterproof layer which when standing up and if you have the boot bag say in the back of your car it won't leak.
To help carry the boot bag around it does come with quite a robust adjustable shoulder strap which again is colour co-ordinated with the bag and it will easily adjust whether you have to carry the bag by hand or whether you want the strap over your shoulder. Because the bag is lightweight as it is even if you do have the strap resting on your shoulder the strap won't dig in or cause any discomfort. To put the boots in the bag has a double zip at the front which when completely undone you can easily put your boots in and take them out with no problems whatsoever. When you do un-zip the front it is pretty much the whole front panel of the boot bag which comes down and has two individual zips so if you only want to unzip one side you can.
To help aid the drying of the boots the boot bag does feature mesh vents which are there to help but personally I find that if kept in a warm car or kept at home then the boots do dry out pretty quickly anyway but it is a nice feature to have. Another good point about this boot bag is that when it isn't in use it can be folded away and because of being made of nylon it is incredibly flexible and does fold down easily into a small enough size to store away easily. I tend to keep mine folded in the back of my car between my dog cage and the inside of my car which is fine for my needs and its handy enough to have as I use it when leaving the yard or after walking the dogs in the woods.
Despite only having this boot bag for a few weeks it has been regularly used nearly on a daily basis as I walk the dogs and see to the horses daily and with the weather we have been having I haven't yet been able not to wear my Hunters so this boot bag has already come in very useful despite supposedly being the Summer! The zips are easy to un-do and to close making getting your wet, muddy boots in the bag and out the way before they get dirt anywhere! I manage to get my pair of Hunters as well as a pair of either paddock boots or muckers alongside eachother easily giving a little extra room which is nice. The bag easily fits in the footwell of my passenger seats and easily sits up right.
Now although my boot bag is relatively new only having had it for a few weeks it has been regularly used as I said above which has meant it has already been put through its paces in my washing machine! It washes well, the colour doesn't run and it comes out looking as good as new. I have only left it to dry naturally and I wouldn't put it in my tumble drier but it copes well and all dirt and mud is completely removed. Being made of nylon will hopefully make this boot bag incredibly durable and will last well especially when it will be used on a daily basis come winter. It is incredibly easy to carry being lightweight which makes getting the boot bag to and from your car/home very easy.
Overall, I think this is a great boot bag which has come at a very useful time considering the weather we are having. For the price it seems like a bargain and so far it has been incredibly durable and will easily carry what I need it to. The pattern also makes a very nice change from your usual black or navy boot bags. Definitely an item that anyone who owns horses should invest in as well as those who have dogs as well as walkers etc and want to keep their cars/homes mud and dirt free. 5 stars from me!
