They are wonderful to wear and feel supremely comfortable when walking in them even though they have a very pointy-toe! One thing I will say, they do have very slippery soles so extra care could be needed on certain surfaces. I am not personally classing this as a disadvantage mainly because I quite like the feeling of slipping a little when wearing them. However, it is something to consider wh...more

Premium Review Shoes in general: 'Scuse the Shoes! (1184 words)

When I was a child, there were two children's shoe shops in the small Midlands town where I grew up. The first was a proper shoe shop - at least according to my Mother. It had uniformed assistants equipped with the latest foot measuring equipment (and trained to use it), plus a rocking horse with a real hair mane and tail that good children were allowed to ride on if they behaved. It sold sensible shoes - brown leather with a T-bar across the front, stout black lace ups or, for summer, the ubiquitous sandals. The other shop, again according to my Mother, was not a proper shoe shop. Its windows were full of shiny patent leather and - horror of horrors - junior high ...  Read the complete review

Trainers are the UK name for what the Americans call athletic shoes. They are also known as Takkies, Sabogs, Skippies and Daps, depending on where you live. Imagine going into a JMB Sports and asking what the latest range of Takkies looks like. If trainers are your thing take a look at: http://sneakers.pair.com Charlies Sneaker Pages give you the lowdown on trainers through the ages. There's a dialogue on different brands of running shoes and what shoe to buy for what purpose. It even tells you how to deal with the dreaded 'stinky trainer' and the even worse 'stinky feet'. When you're done surf on over ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Shoes in general: Choosing shoes for your toddler. (463 words)

I will start off by saying sorry if this opinion is in the wrong place.I am a mum of two and felt it important to let other parents know what shoes are ideal for toddlers. The first thing to remember is that there is no rush.Going barefoot encourages the feet to deveolp and strenghen. It may be weeks from the time your child takes his/hers first steps until she/he is ready and steady enough to walk outside. Generally you should wait four to six weeks from the time she/he firsts starts walking until buying his/her first pair of shoes. When you decide its time make sure that you go to a shoe shop that has specially trained staff to measure your childs foot.If you can ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Upon My Sole (Re-write) (1370 words)

I tread a thin line between being a hobbyist, a collector or simply obsessed. It was triggered off in childhood, and has grown into an adult fixation. I can trace the reasons for this passion back to many years ago with the images and memories of those times still crystal clear in my mind. My knees were covered in scabs. My mother would sit me on the kitchen worktop , bathe them with warm salty water to soften the plasters, tell me look over there, there’s a fairy, then rip them off while I screamed ‘Blue Murder’ The next door neighbour would casually mention over the garden fence, at the Monday morning ritual of hanging the weekly wash on the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Shoes in general: I am a shoeholic (!!?) (404 words)

I am the "New" Imelda Marcos, for years now i have loved and collected shoes. People may think that it is rather wierd to say that you collect shoes, but i think it is perfectly reasonable and at least unlike many other hobbies mine has an everyday function!Let me stress from the beginning that i am a perfectly normal and well balanced person and along with my shoe fetish does not come a foot fetich..errr. Shoes, we all need them, they are functional, but they are also so much more and let's face it you really can NEVER have too many. I keep all my shoes in their shoe boxes with what they are written on the front of the box, this keeps them all ...  Read the complete review
