POW!!!................ ........TAKE THAT SLAM MAN!
Member Name: nayland
Advantages: Doesn't take up much space, really builds up your stamina and fitness, great destresser!
Disadvantages: A bit on the pricey side, you really need to shop about!
I've wanted to write about a Slam Man for some time now, but due to the fact that I was on the verge of purchasing another one for my son's 21st birthday, I didn't want to give anything away. Now that he has received it at the weekend all is safe to reveal!.
This piece of exercise equipment has been around for many years and seems to be making a bit of a comeback at the moment. Basically aimed at people who are into boxing and wanting to build their stamina and reflexes up. This comes in two main parts, with the large square base, that then has a long round barrel tube in the middle and of course the main part (which houses the computer for the lights that will randomly come on in different sequences when training) that is shaped like a mans torso and head.
There are 15 different training programmes to choose from starting from a slower pace and building up to a much faster pace. The idea of this, is that the lights on the torso and face will come on in a set order or when you get better you can select it to randomly come on in different sequences each time and you have to punch that part . So as you get better you can increase the speed and also set the timer to come on for a set amount of time and it will tell you how many punches you have thrown in that time. Can also be used for training in kickboxing as well.
This Slam man is made from a very high density polyethylene plastic and comes in black with a teal colour torso and face. You could buy it in silver a few months back ( this was what we first purchased back in September)but that was a limited edition. Adjustable at 6 feet tall it can be altered for whatever height suits you.
The Slam man is quite light to move about, until you fill him with water or dry sand. My son tried the water version first, but found that it wasn't enough to keep it still when he punched it, so had the bother of trying to empty it which wasn't the easiest thing in the world to do!. So next he went to B & Q and got the sand that was recommended (240lbs!), making it much firmer to the punches. He also purchased some car mats to put the Slam man on, as it is not recommended for laminated floors as it will scratch then badly when it moves around slightly. It is also recommended that you keep this away from any walls as this will also get marked up as the Slam man may hit this as it is being punched.
It comes with mitts, dvd and boxers eating plan. So if you need to destress, improve your fitness or generally just enjoy punching things then this is the perfect gym equipment for you, although it doesn't come cheap at £229 ( this is the cheapest that I could get mine for, but someplaces were charging up to £399!!). It doesn't take up much room and of course like the exercise bike it could finally get used to hang your clothes on!!!.
A well thought out piece of equipment for building up your stamina and fitness so I will give it 5 Dooyoo stars as I know that the first one I bought gets quite a bashing on a regular basis.
Summary: Great for building up your fitness!
