... some of the people at the front desk is in dire need of improvement. Their attitude is that of disregard to courtesy and basic customer service. My wife came in as a guest hoping to sample ONE CLASS prior to joining, as I had suggested and she was treated so poorly, she is not joining in a million years. Would not recommend. In fact, I would discourage if you have other options. I will do my time and pay for my mistake. Don't be like me. The facilities are clean enough, you do see people working on a regular ...more

Soho Gyms: Not what it seems on the Original tour. (345 words)

I actually joined not to long ago and my first mistake was to NOT READ online reviews as it turns out, these attitude issues are well documented in online reviews. I only discovered them after I had frustrating exchanges with the staff and realized this is an ongoing and well documented issue. As I mentioned, I had a couple of instances that have made me reconsider my choice in joining this gym. While the facilities are fine and the level of the classes are actually good, the attitude of some of the people at the front desk is in dire need of improvement. Their attitude is that of disregard to courtesy and basic customer service. My wife came in as a ...  Read the complete review

Based chain of gyms in London (341 words)

I was at Soho Gyms Clapham until a few weeks ago when my membership expired. The reason I went there in the first place was the location and the fact that its one of the few places in London that dont charge you an admin fee and dont have contracts. I signed up for a 6 month off-peak contract and even managed to wangle £10 off the price! (always try haggle for membership prices!) I hate busy gyms so having a cheaper membership for training earlier in the day was a win win for me. The Clapham branch is not massive, but does have one of the largest selection of free weights of any gym I have been to in London. 2 squat racks, 3 bench presses...get the ...  Read the complete review

I have been a member of Soho Gyms for a year now and I can safely say that it's the longest I've ever been a member of a gym! I joined the one in Clapham and mainly use that one but also use Waterloo and Borough every now and then if it's more convenient. I have had nothing but excellent service at all branches I have used, the staff are always really helpful and smiley and always say hello and goodbye, which I like. On two occasions I've been approached by instructors during my workout to advise me on technique. Staff are easily identified as they wear uniforms and name badges, which differs from other gyms I've used where staff are hard to ...  Read the complete review

A Gym to Avoid (910 words)

In an attempt to get fit and lose some weight I joined soho gyms and was a member for three months. I regularly attended the gym in Camden. Joining the gym was really easy. The staff on this occasion were very friendly, very helpful and had a lot of information about the services offered at the gym. I filled in a form, paid for three months membership and a locker and they gave me my membership card and key. It was a really good start to my time at soho gyms and if things had only continued in this way I would be able to write a really good review of the gym. Unfortunately things went down hill from there. My first issue was with the changing rooms. ...  Read the complete review
