Advantages: Great Fun For The Whole Family . Getting Kids Active Again . Cheap .
Disadvantages: Hurts When You Get Hit By The Ball
I am still on my mission so get the garden done for summer and stock up on my toys that's going to keep the kids entertained and get them to keep active at the same time. We brought the kids a Swingball set as they both love to play with balls we thought this would good and also keep them active at the same time. As they have never had anything like this before we decided instead of buying the expensive sets we opted for the cheaper one just in case they did not play it. Well only being £9 it did not really matter if they did or didn't.
WHAT IS SWINGBALL ??
Well I personally can remember these even this set as this one has not changed since I was little girl. Even now I have not changed I love playing with it and whacking peoples heads tis so funny.
Swingball is a large chunky pole that goes into the ground with the aid of a spike at the bottom of the pole. The ball is a tennis ball that is on a large rope that attaches to the top of the pole. With our set you also got 2 checked bats. The Tennis ball is attached firmly so there really is no danger of this coming flying off.
The objective of the game is for 2 or more players. Each player stands at other ends hitting the ball round in the air. I am sure that everyone has one or heard of one before. If not see pictures below. These give you an idea anyway.
ASSEMBLY
Well upon bring this home you are face with a large box. You do need to assembly the pole and the rope but that is really it.
Goes like this. Insert the end pole with the spike into the ground. Now I did this last week so the ground is still pretty soft. If doing this in the summer months you may find this bit harder. This clearly states do not use a hammer as this may bend or spilt the pole. Once that has been done its a matter of placing the yellow clips on to the pole that you have already placed in the ground and placing the rest of the poles on top of each other. There is 3 poles in total. Once that has been done get the string and place over the top of the pole. That's it. As you could tell this should be done in around 3 minutes if you don't have kids running off with the bits.
Ours you can make the pole shorter for younger kids to play. This is easy done by missing out a pole when placing the swing ball together. The poles do come out fairy easy again so you can adjust the height when ever you feel the need to.
BATS.
The bats are large and chunky with holes going through the middles of them. As you can see from the picture above and my pictures that I have added. They are blue and quite large. Juts a little tip don't
Hold the bats to tight as they do give blisters.
There is not a lot of room from the bat to the handle. Well this is for my hand. Oh sorry this is for kids, For kids hands they do have a fair amount of room to grip the bat.
FUN VAULE
Well as I have said that I did only buy this for a kind of test so didn't really matter to me if the kids did like it or not. They do like playing with it. My son loves playing on his own though and if anyone else goes near it then all hell breaks lose. Though I think at some point through the week I think everyone has had a go and the whole family enjoy playing Swingball.
Also for adults it makes a very good stress relief as I have found out. Also can get the kids active and moving and also teaching younger kids to hold the a bat and hit a ball.
CLEANING
Now after a week you may find this slightly odd that I have added a bit about cleaning the Swingball. Trust me if you knew my kids I had to clean this on the 2nd day. With it still being quite wet outside and the mud, the bats did need a clean. This was easy to do. Warm soapy water that is it. The pole also is the same. The tennis ball is only surface washable but who really is going to clean the ball anyway.
PRICE & WHERE TO BUY.
Well as I have said at the start of the review I only paid £9 for this Swingball and too me that is a real bargain. We brought this from our local Argos. Most places sell this and there is also quite a lot of different sets that are available now. Some come with bases or in a sports sets.
MY FINAL WORD.
Well I do think I have said enough really. Though the kids are happy with their new little toy so are the adults as they love to play too. The best thing about the Swingball ball is that you don't have to keep going to look for the ball every 2 minutes and there is no more " Mummy I Lost My Ball, Please Find It"
At £9 you can't go wrong really great fun for the whole family and best of all it's getting kids outside and moving and being active again. Without the need of a TV.
Recommend age is from 3 years,.
