Table Tennis aka Ping Pong is a sport which im sure alot of people have heard of. It is a very enjoyable sport, and speakin from experience, a sport which i have alot of time for.

Basically the rules are the same as tennis however the equipment could not be any more different. The Table is obviosly raised off the ground as opposed to Tennis, wooden paddles covered in rubber material are used instead of rackets and finally the difference in the celluloid ball is the final major distinguishing difference between the two sports.

Either 2 or 4 players cant participate in any one match, however the rules slightly change, however th concept remains the same. The game is played up to 11 points granted they hold a 2 advantage.

Table tennis is a sport played worldwide, and its widespread adoption is a testament to its versatility. The origins of Table tennis are largely unknown however it is believed it was documented in the late 1800's in England in victorian times as a source of social enjoyment. Originally "Ping Pong", the official name was change to Table Tennis when the International Table Tennis Federation was set up.

The rules have been revised alot and has evolved in many ways over the years, including equipment, technology and playing styles. It has recently become an Olympic Sport which is testimony to its growth in numbers.

I have took part in many a competition, and feel that i had to write my part on this underestimated sport. I believe that the way it is currently growing, it is a matter of time before i becomes a major player in World Events.

I would just like to finish by recommending everyone to give it a try. You may be suprised how much it grows on you.
