Advantages: Know your balls - Wilson = good
Disadvantages: Cheap balls!
Playing tennis with dodgy tennis balls is a nightmare! Theyre rock solid and dont bounce and break after 2 games!
In my opinion the best "value range" balls are Dunlop Forts which come in a three pack at sports soccer for £9.
The slazenger wimbledon balls are also very good balls, at a reasonable price although they tend to fur up very quickly!
Tretorn Micro X are quite expensive balls but the ones I had lost presure rapidly and there are far cheaper, better balls out there!
I bought a case of Wilson US open yesterday and had a quick hit with them today, they are certainly worth the extra cash I spent on them. They have a true bounce and havnt fuzzed up too much so far... but only time will tell!
Avoid all poundshop tennis balls like the plague! Your better off spending more initially on some quality balls!
In summary if you just want the balls for light training then unpressurised balls should do but if you want to get down to some serious training or matchplay then pressured balls are a must!
Pressurised balls cost more but have a better bounce, whilst unpressured balls will last much longer.
If you want the best value tennis balls buy some more expensive ones which will last longer than those bargain balls!
Summary: Buy the better quality balls!
