Advantages: Great fun to play
Disadvantages: Gets a bit expensive
I have always been a keen tennis player and while at school I played for the county team, I would have loved to have been good enough to have been a professional player but I was not at that standard and while the money would have been nice as a professional player my first love was always dancing.
Tennis equipment can cost an awful lot of money and most of the time it is well worth paying a fair bit for the two most important items in your tennis equipment, your racket and your foot wear, after all in a match you are on your feet needing to move about and change direction so a comfortable pair of tennis shoes which give you plenty of grip are important. I have always tended to opt for nike tennis shoes as they tend to be a little narrow in the width department which suits my dainty feet. The latest pair I have were not cheap at £120 but they are soft and comfortable which is very important.
I have used a range of rackets over the years, Prince are a good brand however Dunlop are the ones I prefer, again I spent well over £100 on my last racket and it is really well balanced and generates a lot of speed when I connect in the sweet spot.
To be honest there is no need to spend a lot on the other equipment unless your want your tennis outfit tobe a fashion statement, I tend to favour shorts rather than the short skirts otherwise you just attract the perverts, I do make sure I have good quality socks on to protect my feet from blisters.
Not the cheapest sport but to be honest you can get a half decent racket for £60 fif you shop around and tennis shoes for £40 so it does not have to break the bank.
Summary: Pays to get quality
