I have been playing tennis now for what feels like a lifetime. Tennis is a pretty big part of my life and I play at least six times a week. I have reached a high standard so my choice of equipment is a very difficult and important decision for me to make.
Choosing a new racquet was a decision that I decided I would make just over a year ago.
Up until then I had been playing tennis with a Head Electra tennis racquet. This racquet was bright red, had a really big chunky frame and was very very powerful. I wanted a change. I thought that it would be easy looking for a new racquet but there were just so many to choose from, it was a lot harder then I had imagined.

I had to find a racquet that suited my aggressive game. I have been coached to hit a lot of topspin but to also hit a lot of power on the ball, so it was important that I got a racquet that was fairly powerful and that also has a lot of control.

I spoke to my tennis coach about the kind of thing that I was looking for. He recommended that I should get a few racquets out on test.
I decided that I would try a few different makes and see if there were any differences between them.
After trying a Wilson Hyper Hammer 6.3 I decided that was a very nice racquet. I knew that my brother and a few other people at my club were interested in this racquet and in the end thought that I could find something that suited my game more.

I had a Head Ti Fire recommended to me. Straight away I knew this racquet was for me.
The balance on it was perfect and it felt great. The contrast of power and control was excellent and really suited my game. Using this racquet I could increase my racquet head speed, as it was a much lighter racquet then my previous one.

The head size of it is 660sq cm, which is a pretty average size. It has a large sweet spot allowing me to hit better and cleaner shots. It has a shock stop mechanism in the handle, which stops the vibrations. This stops the
possibility of getting tennis elbow, so it is a very reassuring thing to have.

The racquet also has an anti-torsion bar on it, which stops the frame from bending and snapping.
The racquet is made from Titanium and Graphite, which are both very strong but also remarkably light. My racquet weighs 255g and the head of it is really easy to control.

I tend to break a lot of strings due to the amount of topspin I hit on the ball. I am always worried about the pressure that is put on the frame when it is being restrung.
Luckily the anti-torsion bar stops the pressure that is being put on the frame.

When the racquet was first brought out it would have cost you £180 but since then, due to a very competitive market the price has been lowered to £130 but it can be bought for less at mail order places.

It is black, silver and yellow in colour and looks very good. When you are buying your tennis racquet make sure that the grip is the right size for you. It is very awkward playing with a racquet that you can't even fit your hand round the grip properly.
The racquet comes with a good cover with strap so you can easily carry your racquet around.

Playing such an aggressive game means that my racquet is going to get battered about a bit. It does not chip easily and does not scratch badly. Thankfully I was not born with a temper so I have never tested the racquet on throwability. (yet) But I am sure that it could withstand that too.

I wouldn't recommend this racquet to a person just starting out in the game, because it is a lot of money to spend just for something that may well be shoved in the cupboard under the stairs after about a month.
This racquet is for the younger player but I suggest that before you buy it make sure that you have a go with one first, as you don't want to be stuck with a £130 racquet that you don't want.

This racquet can be bought in a number of places. I would reco
mmend that you should go to a place that specialises in tennis, so that they can sort you out with the right grip size.

I have found that this racquet has really helped my game. It has allowed me to hit more power and spin on the ball but also with more control. Not many tennis racquets can do this. Most are either really powerful but impossible to control, or underpowered but really easy to control.
I have just bought a second Head Ti fire for £50 on www.ebay.co.uk. This was very cheap and i couldn't turn it down.

I recommend this racquet to anybody but please please make sure it suits your game before you spend the money.
