Advantages: The only thing left after the nuke drops will be cockroaches and these boots

Disadvantages: Not a lot, maybe a bit heavy for the delicate

Cost:
For a lot of people this will be the main issue in deciding whether to buy these. At RRP I believe these are £129.99. This is a lot of money for a pair of shoes, and I can understand if people won't even consider paying that amount. However if you think of it in terms of value for money then suddenly this does not seem unreasonable.
First of all, they will last for years. My previous pair of Timberland boots are still going strong after three years of heavy use, the only reason I bought new ones was because I wanted them in a different colour. They have not come apart at the seams, there is no wear at all to the sole, they are as waterproof as they were when I bought them, and even the scuffing on the toe is minimal. These things are built like tanks and if anyone manages to break them they have my respect!
But after saying all of that I must admit that I did not pay RRP for my boots, I found them for just £45 at a clearance sale at Timberland's factory outlet shop in Swindon. I would however have gladly paid full retail for these, I was just lucky.

The boot:
The first thing you notice about these is the weight. Yes they are heavy, and no you will not want to run easily in them. If you have chicken legs and weigh as much as Victoria Beckham you may have an issue with the weight, but in everyday use I do not find it a problem, and find it easy to walk long distances in them.
The other main aspect of the boot is the very thick sole. Whenever I go back to wearing trainers it feels odd mainly because I lose an inch or so in height! If Tom Cruise is reading this, go and buy some Timberland boots, you won't regret it.

Comfort:
Those people used to trainers may find it an issue because of course the sole is hard, these are not like walking on a bowl of jelly like a pair of Nike Shox or Nike Air. However my transition from being primarily a trainer devotee to a boot wearer has been a painless one. I find these as comfortable as anything I have ever worn. The leather of the boot is supple and smooth, and the shape is well contoured to fit my feet, there is no rubbing of any kind.

The look: The look is classic and much copied by other boot manufacturers. The boots have a very smooth appearance with minimal use of joins and stitching. I am sure this 'one piece of leather' design also contributes to the superb waterproofing these boots have. In addition to the good waterproofing they are also superb at keeping my feet warm. I have had to stand around on icy train platforms this week in my boots and never once has jack frost nipped at my toes.

Summary: Value for money even though they are expensive
