Would you like to look like Christie Brinkley? Do you know who Christie Brinkley is? No, neither do I. I think she used to be married to someone famous. She looks quite good though, and she advertises the Total Gym, along with someone else I hadn’t heard of before, Chuck Norris. Now my husband sat up and took notice when he saw Chuck Norris. He had heard of him. I forget where from. Probably some beat-em-up, drive-em-fast guy movie. The thing is though, I really don’t care who advertises products as long as they work. Chuck and Christie didn’t influence my decision to buy this product. A bottle of wine, a late-night channel surf and a ... Read the complete review

I have broken the habit of a lifetime - well two actually. Firstly, I bought something from a Sky shopping channel, something of an experience in itself and eventually subject to a further opinion (you can buy this online at www.tv-shop.co.uk). Secondly, I decided to exercise my way to better health. I chose the Total Gym 1000, not because Chuck Norris or Christine Brinkley said so (you really have to see the advert to know what I mean!), but because I wanted something which would give as much an all round workout, covering most of the major muscle groups, without having to buy something which would require me to reinforce the floor of the room in which I ... Look out Arnold S, Sylvester S, and Jean Claude VD. Because Gill has bought herself a total gym. It cost me £199 quid from TV shopping. (you can pay in instalments) I had better lose half that I pounds or I’m sending the bugger back. I have gone flabby and floppy over the last few months due to lack of proper exercise. I didn’t feel like joining a gym, because of the cost. So I thought to myself buy this and work out in the comfort of your own home. Right… on TV they show a woman folding it up and sliding it under her bed to store, when not in use. The problem is my bed base touches the floor, so for me it is ... Read the complete review

The problem with so many fitness products these days are that they try to replicate the benefits of what results you can get with free weights and a bench. The Total Gym 1000 is no exception. Based around a board that moves against pulleys, cables and you as resistance and you can immediately see the flaws of such a machine. I brought mine to compliment my existing weights/bench set up about a month ago. Very easy to construct. Manual all made sense to me - as was the exercises. Due to what i can lift on my bench there was no messing with the angle of resistance (the higher the slope - the greater the resistance). it was straight to the top. At this level ... I have owned the Total Gym 1000, for about a year now. The reason why, is because i was channel shopping, and it looked good. It cought my eye, so i watched the programme, and then decided, that for £150, you couldn't go wrong. You can do all sorts of exercises on it, so why bother paying to go to a gym, and use lots of machines, when this one does it all? Firstly, i would like to state, that i found it a workout in its self, just trying to set it up. I didn't realise it was going to be so heavy. I am female, and only 5 foot 2. When it is stood up, on it's end, it is a little bigger than me. I struggled on, and after about 20 mins of ... Read the complete review
