Trangia stoves are the bee's knees! (Trangia Camping Stove)

Trangia are one of the most famous camping stove manufacturers in the world. Their products now extend beyond the reach of what's just commonly known as "a Trangia" ie. camping stove but they now cater for outdoor cooking for just about any situation.

Trangia make the best alcohol burning stoves in my opinion. Obviously there are a good number of reasons why:

1) They are the best designed all in one camping stoves around. They have pots, a frying pan, a pot handle, a burner, a windshield and other accessories all stored within the compact space of the pot.
2) They are mainly alcohol burning stoves which eliminates risks associated with gas.
3) They are light! (Depending on the model)
4) They will not break the bank.

There are probably more great advantages of these wonderful stoves but I'd put these as the main ones. The alcohol burning stoves comes in 3 popular sizes, the 25, 27 and 28 (mini) series. The 27 is designed mainly for a one to two person stoves, with two pots, a kettle and a frying pan included as cooking utensils. The 25 is a bigger version of the same thing to accomodate 3 people or maybe more. The 28 is a mini, cut down version for one person who is travelling light.

As a fly fisherman who hikes in the wilderness a lot, I have the mini version. It is blooming fantastic! The kit contains, a frying pan, a 0.8l pot, a pot handle, a pot stand and a burner. The only things this kit lacks is a good wind shield, you either need to locate your self beside a rock to break a strong wind or do what i did and create something that will block the wind. Any kind of basic windshield will do. The kit is great, the meths burner is the same one as with the bigger kits so water boils just as fast, around 7 mins for a full pot and food is cooked very fast. You just can't fault these things. All of this weighs in not much above something minimal at around 300g.

Trangia now offer gas conversion burners but I'm not a fan of gas. Meths is so cheap, lasts ages and is totally safe. Trangia keep on producing fantastic gear and is a must for any outdoors enthusiast.
