Ah, my bike review did not get as many reads or ratings as McDonalds reviews......what does this say about the membership of this site, lol?

So, following on from the bike review......

Another purchase from Halford's. This time the all essential bike helmet, never, ever go on your bike without it.

To illustrate my point, a local rugby player recently died when he fell off his moped, moving it from the road to his drive having taken off his helmet, he fell off and hit his head on the kerb. A freakish accident maybe, but riding a bike or motorbike means you 'might' fall off or get knocked off, why take a risk?

Okay, education over. It is difficult to persuade my (13 year old son) to wear a helmet so it is important that I lead by example. So we spent some time choosing helmets, trying them on and looking in mirrors before the purchase.

Looks:
This helmet comes in Blue (my son), grey (me) and red. As you can see from the picture it is attractive and modern. What the picture does not show is that there is a detachable 'peak' which takes the Cromwellian roundhead look away; I would recommend using the peak, for without it you would need a pike.

Ease of use:
Could not be simpler: there is a helmet, within the helmet there is a plastic band which adjusts via a simple dial at the back to ensure a good fit. There is an under chin strap with a click fastener. Sizes vary, mine is a medium, so I'm not a big head after all. There are some internal, adjustable foam strips for extra comfort.

Cost:
Very cheap at around £14.

Safety:
A snug fit as mentioned earlier and it exceeds the safety rating of EN1078, which I am reliably informed is what you need to look for on a bike helmet, as well as ensuring that it is tight enough not to fall off.

Bad points:
Having just recently started to style my hair, it does not do much for that aspect of my looks. It is also, for some reason not trendy to wear a bike helmet, I would have thought that the missing part of the skull look is even worse, but there you go, the choice is yours.

Finally:
A decent, cheap bike helmet, looks okay, fits well and is comfortable, sometimes simple is best.

Summary: Cheap n cheerful bike helmet.

My partner was looking for a new bike helmet, and this sounds ideal! Great review.

Sorry. Too busy making the funny to say what a great set of reviews all 3 bike related ones are.
