Advantages: Effective, Cheap

Disadvantages: None Really

I think I was around 6 when my parents bought me my first pool table. It was a full size one and although it was a little ragged and falling to bits it was in playable condition. We stuck it out the way in the junk room and I spent many happy hours playing pool and snooker when I was a kid. I think we got rid of that table around 5 years later, which was a shame really as I was just getting good by that point. However, I still played every time we went to a pub or anywhere else with a pool table. One thing you learn very early on when playing either pool, snooker or billiards, is that you need to use chalk! If you don't do this you end up miss hitting your shots and the ball can screw off in all different kinds of directions.

Now obviously I can't tell you what chalk I was using back when I was six years old. I do remember using it though and often getting told off for getting it all over the carpet. Although I can't be sure of it, I imagine I was using this very chalk. Triangle chalk has been the market leader pretty much forever. Play in a pub, in a snooker hall or at the Crucible theatre and chances are you will see people using this exact chalk. I am sure there are other companies out there that produce chalk, but for many years Triangle have been the market leaders.

On the side of the chalk it says 'king of them all' and you really can't argue with that statement. Triangle chalk is the best in the business. The idea behind chalk is that you add it to your cue tip and it grips the ball, so that you can play straight shots or impart spin on the ball. Without chalk it would be very difficult if not impossible to get any real spin on the ball.

Triangle chalk comes in those familiar small blue squares. When you get a new pack of chalk, there is a small hollow in the top of the chalk where you place your cue to chalk it up. As the chalk wears down the hole gets bigger and it becomes even easier to chalk your cue.

The good thing about Triangle chalk is that it is good cheap reliable chalk. You can pick up a three pack of these for just over £1 and they will last you for ages. I bought a pack of 3 of these about 7 years ago and I'm still using them now. Admittedly I don't play that often, but even if I did I am sure these would last a long time.

Overall then you really would have to say that Triangle chalk is the best of the best. Yes it is a very simple product, it many ways it's quite tricky to review as there is only so much you can say about it other than it's blue! But when it comes to buying chalk for either snooker or pool I can't see any reason why anyone would want to look elsewhere. Buy Triangle chalk and you will not be disappointed.
