Advantages: May possibly make ease of a round of golf
Disadvantages: Can't be used for half of the year
I’m sorry to say it, but as much as I trust ‘kenjohn’ I’m afraid I don’t agree with his opinion here, albeit it a Crown Rating as well. Golf trolleys in my opinion are a nuisance and are usually disallowed on the golf course half of the time anyway, due to the bad weather conditions and their tendency to wreck the fairways with unattractive tyre marks. It is possibly fair to say that they make ease of a golf round, but at the end of the day if you’ve just walked four or so miles, you still going to be tired whether you’ve pulled a trolley or not. The other option of carrying your bag is the way to go. I made the decision two years ago to ditch my £10 trolley in favour of this and haven’t looked back since. It is good for you and undoubtedly makes you fitter, walking four miles is certainly an achievement, but walking four miles having carried a bag the whole way is something to be positively proud of. It will make you enjoy you round more if nothing else. Also the variety of bags available nowadays is clearly aimed at the ‘carrier’. Bags with padded straps are popular for the added comfort they bring, but the ultimate bag style must be the ‘Rug Sack’ where you can actually wear your bag as if it were a rug sack, so being the beauty of its design. Anybody out there who is still in doubt as whether or not to ‘carry’ just remember I was inspired to this decision by a 54 Year Old woman I used to work with, so if she can ‘carry’ then so can you. In conclusion ‘carrying’ is a much cheaper alternative to ‘pulling’ and will reduce the already expensive cost of making golf your hobby. It won’t I’m afraid improve your game, Sorry!

- 25/01/01 You'll note that I DIDN'T give you a "not useful" rating, as that's not the way I rate opinions.
I judge each opinion on it's individual merit, whether I PERSONALLY agree with it or not, and rate accordingly.
To rate my opinion on trolleys "not useful" because you don't happen to agree with the points I am making is not the way I understand the rating system to operate.
I rated your opinion as "useful", as I felt it a valid viewpoint, which is what I think of my own opinion.
I happen to DISAGREE with your opinion, but didn't let it affect my rating, as it was well enoughwritten and presented. |

- 25/01/01 Yeh, I agree trolleys are a 'pain in the neck,' you just end up doing more work by carrying them unless you've got a caddy. Another bad point is that you're so eager to fill them up that you buy clubs that you'll rarely use to make you look professional - and to prove to the wife,(despite her saying it to be a waste of time), that you are using it!!! |
