So I have been playing cricket for season now. Seeing as I now love the sport my boyfriend recommended that I buy a new(ish) bat, so I did. I brought the Woodworm Silver Mega Bite Cricket bat for around £75. The first thing to say about this bat is i brought it at a reduced price. Great! However, it was not "knocked in". Apparently you have to hit a special hammer against it for at least 6 hours, before you use it, to avoid it breaking. My boyfriend recommended that I should knock the bat in for at least 10 hours, which he helped with. This knocking in means the willow becomes softer and is less susemptable to breaking. After owning many bats i think that this bat is probably the worst performing and looking bat i have bought. Firstly and probably least importantly the shiny stickers do look very tacky and cheap, not classy at all however this is personal opinion and does not bear any outcome on the bats performance. The bat i received weighted 2lb 8, and i must say it did pick up very nicely, there were 5 grains, i had hoped for 6+ for a bat that costs the best part of £100. The wood had several large blemishes on which detract from its looks and do not really affect its performance, i wouldn't mind a bad looking bat as long as it performs however this bat didn't.
