*Introduction*
Remember the days when you had to spend over £30 to get free delivery from amazon? Well I had bought a few CD's costing around £25 but I hate having to pay delivery charges. So much so that I went in search of something that was relatively cheap to push me over that £30 mark. It was only the day before I made my purchase that we were having a discussion whilst at work about fitness and some of the easiest and least expensive ways to get fit and lose weight. One of my colleagues said that they skipped 15 - 20 minutes every evening. This is what led me to adding York 8ft Skipping Rope to my basket.
*About the Product*
York 8ft Skipping Rope has ergonomically designed soft foam handles that provide a comfortable grip. Its bearings are sealed for a smooth rope spin.
*Price and Availability*
You can buy York 8ft Skipping Rope from a number of online stores, the most popular of which is probably www.amazon.co.uk, therefore it is very easy to purchase this rope should you wish to do so. The skipping rope retails at £3.99 which is very cheap for an exercise accessory. You can buy skipping ropes at a price a lot less than this and may well be thinking that at £4 you don't want to spend that much on what is essentially a rope but believe me the comfortable soft foam hand grips warrant the additional fee.
*My Opinion*
The packaging: The skipping rope is packaged in a fairly small, yellow cardboard box. I won't describe it anymore as the second that it is opened and the rope is out, I pretty much guarantee you the box will be in the bin.
The skipping rope itself: This rope is comfortable to use due to its soft foam grips and these do not make it any harder to hold. The comfort allows you to keep going in your stride for longer without your hands or fingers getting sore or aching. And what is great about the foam handles is that you don't get any blisters which you can sometimes get from using a rope with plastic handles.
As for the length of the rope, it is perfect for me. I am fairly short at just over 5ft 1 and in the past have found some skipping ropes ridiculously long and therefore completely useless to use. This does mean that the rope may not be any good for taller people but as I am not, I cannot tell you for sure. The rope itself is wiry and knitted together very tightly. Then means that even after a year of use, it hasn't frayed in the slightest and is showing no signs of doing so any time soon.
Has it helped me to lose weight and keep fit? I believe so yes. It is very high impact cardio work which means that I personally cannot keep going for much longer than 15 - 20 minutes which I think is fairly good going. Plus, I don't believe that you would want to perform this exercise for much longer than that this amount of time as it isn't the most exciting form of exercise. Doing this has helped me to keep going longer in my Boot camp Circuits exercise group though so I think it is working well for improving my stamina.
Make sure that you do this in a room that the rope won't hit a light or the ceiling because a) you don't want to break anything and b) if it hits the ceiling you can't really skip properly anyway. I certainly break into a sweat and feel like I have done some exercise after I've finished 20 minutes or so of skipping.
*Would I Recommend This Product?*
For £4, York 8ft Skipping Rope gets your pulse racing and your legs moving so I would definitely recommend the purchase of this product. I think that it is superb value for money, easy to use, small enough to transport wherever you want and most of all a great form of exercise. You can do it anywhere and even do it in the garden when the weather is nice.
*Overall*
York 8ft Skipping Rope is a great product and the handles make it extremely comfortable to use. You will find that if you use this 2 - 3 times a week your fitness will unquestionably improve. Well mine did anyway so hopefully it will be as effective for you. It is a cheap method of exercise that you can perform anytime, anywhere. As the meerkat would say, Simples!
Summary: Soft grip handles make it a pleasure to use.
