The FIFA 2010 World Cup final between Spain and Netherlands was a chance for one of the powerhouses of world football to be hailed as world champions for the very first time. Spain had entered the competition as favourites after winning the 2008 European championships and winning every match of their qualifying group, Netherlands were also on a great run of form winning every match in their qualification and a perfect run to the final. [Note to the reader: This is a lengthy review, and it would have been lengthier, had I not made a concerted effort to say much less than I could have, about, quite, a number of things.
