Patrice Evra is a footballer who currently plays for Manchester United. He is primarily a left back and has represented his country, France, at an international level. Although a great defender I like Evra for his attacking options he offers. He is seen week in week out taking on players on the left flank and delivering balls for the forwards to score. He is also great in the air despite being smaller than your average Premier League defender.

Patrice Born in 1981 in Senegal and moved to France when he was a year old. His passion football and noticeable talent soon took shape at his home club CO Les Ulis. After trialing with a number of clubs Evra was given his first professional contract at 17 for Marsala where he was mainly used as a left winger. At Marsala Patrice was an instant success and soon found other clubs showing attention. After just one season Serie B side Monza signed Evra for 250,000 Euros. Although at the time what seemed as a dream move Evra moved on due to lack of first team opportunities. He went to Nice where I feel he blossomed as a player. Gaining a lot more first team experience we began to see Evras talent develop and mature as a player.

This improvement saw Monaco come in and sign Evra. This is where he was told to focus on defending and being a left back. Under the guidance of Didier Deschamps Evra continually impress on a European stage. During his stint at Monaco he was part of the 2002-2003 Coupe de la Ligue champions. These performances at Monaco also gained him international caps with France and Evra was soon becoming a world class player.

After becoming a regular in the France squad Evra found that Manchester United were interested. He soon signed for £5.5 million on the 6th January 2006. At Manchester United I really began to take notice of Evra. He was a force at the back and his ability to take on players brought added excitement. Fans soon began to fall in love with the little left back. He is a constant feature on the starting line-up for Man U and has won numerous accolades and trophies. Since arriving Evra has won the Premier League 4 times, the League Cup 3 times and the Champions League once.

At the age of 30 Evra does not seem to be slowing up. His performances are as good as ever and I am sure he will continue to be a defensive rock and attacking threat for Manchester United.
