Advantages: cheap, easily available, good workout, easy to follow

Buying a fitness DVD can be difficult. theres so many out there that claim to burn fat and sculpt your body in record time. not to mention the start of a new year some other celebrity brings out a DVD that frankly...looks too good to be true! This is where Tae-Bo comes in.

Tae Bo is a fairly well established workout, combining techniques from Boxing and Tae-Kwando. It is instrusted by Billy Blanks, a well known instructor for many years from the U S of A. There are a lot of Tae Bo DVD's, ranging from beginers level, right up to advanced, and further more releases such as Tae Bo energise and boot camp for those wanting a more rigourous excerise! Loved by celebrities and can burn up to 800 calories per hour. Plus, this can be done by men and women of all fitness levels!

The DVD's come in fairly simple yellow packaging, which usually features a photo of Billy on the front. The beginers workouts usually last for about 20-30 minutes, perfect if your short on time. However, you do actually feel like your getting a good workout even after 20 minutes.

The music used in the DVD is a bit naff, think cheesy budget-style disco music. I would have preffered something a bit more bouncy to go with the moves. There are people of all ages in the studio particpating along with Billy, there is even an eldely lady taking part, ding the workour at her own pace! The workout starts with a warm up, including a lot of stretching of the major muscles, so to prevent injury from occuring.

Then the main fat burning section starts. The main moves consist of those used in boxing. Think jabs, punches, uppercuts which are really good for stress as well as burning fat! All the moves are first demonstrated slowly to give the viewer a chance to grasp the movments. The moves are pretty easy to follow, there is nothing too complicated going on.

Other moves included in the workout are kicks to the sides and fronts, lunges and squats, excerises which really burn fat and tone the legs, not to mention your abs.

The workout ends with a short cool down which consists of a few stretches. I think this section could have been a bit longer considering there were a lot of muscles used in the workout.

Overall I think the Billy Blanks DVD's are worth investing in. They do exactly what then say on the tin. The techniques are proven to get results and give you a great workout. Great for beginers as it allows you to go at your own pace. Its a winner!
