WWE Armageddon was set to be an good ppv with the main event being a triple threat match for the WWE title. Match Review/Card United States Title MVP vs. Rey Mysterio. Mysterio got thrown around the ring as usual. Nothing special in the match crowd were not really paying much attention in this match it was not the best opening match on an PPV card. 4/10 CM Punk & Kane vs. Bid Daddy V & Mark Henry This match may seem boring as Big Daddy Vs names featured but it was a decent match up. The crowd got behind Kane and Punk an lot the surprise at the end was good. 6/10 Shawn Michaels vs. Mr. Kennedy Two fantastic wrestlers took it here to their limit. This was no doubt one of the best matches of the night. If you like true good wrestling then this is a good match to watch. 8/10 Winner gets a title shot at Royal Rumble Triple H vs. Jeff Hardy Jeff Hardys push began here at Armageddon and boy did he do an good job. The crowd were behind him all the way and yes he got the surprise victory over Triple H! 8/10 Finlay vs. Khali Not the best match of the night at all Khalis Size was helping in the match but Finlay had his help with little Hornswoggle and of course his special weapon to help over come the odds. 6/10 WWE Title Match Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho The build up to the match had the potential of making this match a great one. The match had a really bad ending which should not happen on an PPV. Not a good match at all after all the good hype building up for it. 5/10 WWE Women's title Beth Phoenix vs. Mickie James The two women put on a good show and the crowd were into this match a lot. A lot of high flying action from Beth who got an good pop from the fans. Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Title Batista vs. Undertaker vs. Edge Edge can really play the bad guy really well and he did in this match. Everyone was into the match an lot and finish caught everyone by surprise. Certainly worth watching for! 7/10 Overall Its a good pay per view one to watch!
======================= WWE Armageddon 2008 DVD ======================= It was the 16th of December and I was ready to watch the last pay per view on the WWE's wrestling card. Every single Wrestling fan knows all about Armageddon and some of the great matches that this pay per view event has held in the past. There have been some memorable matches and contests such as when The Undertaker faced Randy Orton in a Hell in a Cell match at Armageddon 2005, or when Triple HHH defeated HBK Shawn Michaels in a 3 stages of Hell match at Armageddon 2002, but some of you may not even know that much about Armageddon so let me tell you what it is all about... === What Is WWE Armageddon === The WWE ( World Wrestling Entertainment) which is a worldwide Wrestling corporation, hosts many pay per views per year which are special events every month which are sometimes free on Sky Sports one or three, or you may have to pay around £14.95 for the event on Sky Box Office. Armageddon has been running since 1999 making the event on this DVD the eighth annual Armageddon of the WWE. Armageddon is also the last pay per view that WWE hosts of each year ( hence the PPV's name) , and it is a very popular pay per view with 237,000 purchases on Sky Box Office. Armageddon is a tri - branded event which means that matches and contests from Raw , Smackdown and ECW are mixed into one great pay per view event which is great as many of your favourite superstars may be part of different brands, now you can watch them on the same show!!!... === The Matches === In WWE's 2007 edition of Armageddon, there are in total 8 fantastic and exiting contests of all different lengths, which feature some of the wrestling worlds most favourite wrestling superstars, champions and Diva's of today... === Match 1 - Rey Mysterio VS Montel Vontanious Porter (MVP) === Montel Vontanious Porter is the current reigning United States Champion before the match starts and he faces of against the fan favourite who is Rey Mysterio. Rey Mysterio gets a chance to take MVP's title at Armageddon 2007 as the first match on the card, but Rey Mysterio and MVP haven't been feuding for long so they aren't youst to each other's ability's unless they have been watching each others brutal matches as of late, but who will come out on top? Will the high flying Rey Mysterio win the United States with the 619 or will the highest paid superstar in sports entertainment MVP pick up the victory with the Playmaker? You know that this DVD is the key to find out... MVP - MVP is a man who came to the Smackdown brand of the WWE in 2006 and wasted no time in becoming well paid and becoming The United States Champion by defeating Chris Benoit in a two out of three falls match that very year. MVP uses very offensive brawling and some powerful moves to get the win over his opponents, but with Rey Mysterio as fast as lightening, will MVP have something else up his sleeve?... Rey Mysterio - Rey Mysterio who hails from San Diego California is a very popular luchador among the WWE fans with his mask making him unidentified from the crowd to his real looks and personality of his character. Rey Mysterio is a high flyer which means he risks his body with many moves that he performs for us, the fans. Rey is also very fast so will this gain the advantage over MVP and lose him the United States title?... === Match 2 - CM Punk and Kane VS Big Daddy V and Mark Henry === Kane teams up with ECW ( Extreme Championship Wrestling )'s Champion to take on the massive Big Daddy V and his tag team partner The Worlds Strongest Man Mark Henry. All of these superstars except Mark Henry who is on the Smackdown brand, are from the ECW brand who put their bodies on the line every night in brutal matches. CM Punk is a lot small in size compared to the rest of the competitors in the match as Big Daddy V weighs 500 pounds and Mark Henry around 390 and Kane being 300 pounds, how will CM Punk and Kane who are the fan favourites in this match face of against two massive individuals in the WWE, will there be someway for Kane to chokeslam Mark Henry, or will CM Punk bring Big Daddy V to at least one knee, there's only one way to watch the action... CM Punk - CM Punk who came fresh into ECW after being part of ring of honour before going to ECW in 2006 is a definite fan favourite and the current ECW champion in this match, who puts on a great show with many fantastic speedy and effective moves such as the GTS and the Diving Clothesline. Will this straightedge superstar who is very abiding win over the powerful team or will he fall to the fate of the other team?... Kane - Kane is a very strong individual and a large one, but not quite as big as Big Daddy V or The World's Strongest Man Mark Henry. Kane is quite a dark individual and the half brother of The legendary Undertaker inside the WWE. Kane has some great championship history that he has won with some great moves such as the chokeslam that he may hit Mark Henry or Big Daddy V if he uses all of his power, good luck Kane!!!... Mark Henry - Mark Henry is known as the World's Strongest Man in the WWE due to his immense power, and he is also fairly fast for a man of his weight,390 pounds. Mark Henry tags together with the colossal Big Daddy V so it looks as if CM Punk and Kane are definitely going to lose this one, but will the opponents find a way to overcome Big Daddy V and Mark Henry, or will Mark Henry crush them with the World's Strongest Slam?... Big Daddy V - Big Daddy V is one heck of a massive wrestler. Formerly his name was the worlds largest love machine " Viscera " but then he didn't do so well with the ladies or in any match in my opinion, but the WWE and V decided that they would change himself into much more of a dominant superstar with Matt Striker in hi corner. Will Big Daddy V crush Kane and CM Punk like he has done to many other ECW superstars such as the legendary Tommy Dreamer? Will Mark Henry's power crush the opposition even more? Or will Big Daddy V feel the fate of Kane's chokeslam?... === Match 3 - Shawn Michaels VS Mr Kennedy === Shawn Michaels and Mr Kennedy go at it at Armageddon in a exiting contest of the Green Bay Loudmouth and HBK in what appears to be less of an important match in Shawn Michaels career as there is no title on the line, but it's still a tough contest for both men as Mr Kennedy faces against one great WWF and WWE legend that is Shawn Michaels. Will Shawn Michaels hit the Super kick for the win or even the Sweet Chin Music? Or will Mr Kennedy be able to hit his finishers on Michaels?... Shawn Michaels - Shawn Michaels is a definite fan favourite with many of the wrestling fans in the wrestling world and with me and many other's on this site. Shawn Michaels is best known for being The Hear Break Kid with his high charisma and charm, his amazing quick and impressive old school moves which were made back in the day when he faced his former tag team partner Triple HHH and other wrestling legends in such excellently performed matches over the years. Will Shawn Michaels be able to shut the Green bay loudmouth's mouth once and for all with the Sweet Chin Music? Or will Mr Kennedy get the advantage over Shawn Michaels?... Mr Kennedy - MR KENNEDY KENNEDY... As Mr Kennedy repeats and shouts when he enters the ring for competition. Mr Kennedy is a big loudmouth from Green bay Wisconsin who let's his word's come before he thinks. Mr Kennedy certainly isn't a great fan favourite but he thinks he is a good wrestler and he certainly isn't a bad one, will this mean that he can hit his impacting finishing move on HBK for the victory? Or will Shawn prevail?... === Match 4 - Jeff Hardy VS Triple HHH === In this match, these two fan favourites go at it to find the number one contender for Randy Orton or Chris Jericho's WWE Championship at the next pay per views which is The Royal Rumble after one of them win's the title later in the night. When this match started, I was surprised to see the respect that these two men had for each other as they shook hands, but will this respect last until the end of the match?... Jeff Hardy - Jeff is one of my favourite wrestler's of the current time and past. Jeff Hardy who is the brother to Matt Hardy on the Smackdown brand who have tagged together in the past and won the tag team titles. Jeff Has been fairly successful in tag team action and singles action after becoming Intercontinental champion many times. Jeff Hardy is my most favourite superstar due to his fantastic move set and just plain brilliance, and he also seems a very respectful wrestler which plays a big part in someone's personality to like them and it is also considered a good thing to have respect in the World Wrestling Entertainment. Will Jeff be able to hit some of his amazing moves such as The Whisper In The Wind finisher, or The Twist Of Fate or The Devastating Swanton Bomb for the win over Triple HHH? Or will Jeff Hardy feel the wrath of the Pedigree?... Triple HHH - Triple HHH is a wonderful legend in some people's eye's, other's may see him to be a little bit big headed, but he will always be a part of the history of the WWE when he leave's in later years. Triple HHH has won many championship's over friend's and foe's over the year's, and he also played a big part in the tag teams of D Generation X with Shawn Michaels who tag together on a rare basis, and Evolution which contained Ric Flair, Batista, and a possible Royal Rumble WWE champion Randy Orton. Triple HHH has shined throughout the years and has devastated many opponents with his effecting Pedigree finishing manoeuvre, but will he be able to lock his finisher and hit it on Jeff Hardy for the victory?... === Match 5 - Finlay VS The Great Khali === Finlay goes head to head with the largest man in the WWE today. There are very few ways that Finlay can pick up the victory as Finlay certainly isn't the strongest wrestler on the Smackdown roster, and very few have been able to get The Great Khali from his huge feet. The Great Khali has many dominating moves such as the tree choke slam and the hand chop which could put his opponents out in seconds. Who will win this huge battle? Will Finlay find someway to get Khali on his feet? Or will The Great Khali hit his most devastating moves on the Belfast brawler Finlay?... Finlay - Finlay really does have his hand's full in this match when he faces the tallest man in the history of sport's entertainment, The Great Khali. Finlay who is nicknamed the fighting Irishman because he was born in Belfast Ireland and Finlay also brings the Belfast brawl match to the WWE which mean's no rules, almost like a street fight. Finlay has Hornswoggle who is a leprechaun like man in his corner who often helps Finlay in distracting Finlay's opponents and the referee, allowing him to hit the opposition with the Shillelagh, but will Finlay and Hornswoggle manage to do this on the massive giant that is The Great Khali?... The Great Khali - Since coming to the WWE in the year of 2006 making a big statement over the biggest superstars of today such as The Undertaker, mauling his legendary status. The Great Khali defeated The Undertakers half brother Kane at Wrestlemania 23 so he has some very memorable matches in his past. The Great Khali is challenged by a much smaller man who is Finlay and most of the fans are hoping that Finlay can pick up the lucky victory. But will it happen, will Finlay find someway to break down this great wall? Or will The Great Khali once again dominate his opponents?... === Match 6 - Chris Jericho VS Randy Orton === This match is for the prized WWE Championship that Randy Orton holds when the match starts. Ever since Y2J Chris Jericho made his return to the WWE ring by re-joining Raw's roster and showing exactly why he should be the WWE champion. Although it isn't easy to just win the WWE gold as Chris Jericho has to go against Randy Orton , a third generation superstar after his father Cowboy Bob Orton was part of the WWE. These two men both want the same thing, the WWE Championship. They know it isn't easy, and at the Royal Rumble, who ever win's the WWE Title at Armageddon 2007 will be defending the title against Triple HHH or Jeff Hardy... Chris Jericho - Ever since Chris Jericho returned to the ring to save his fans from the WWE champion Randy Orton in November, he has really showed the wrestling world that he is WWE Championship material. In the past, Chris Jericho has fought some of the greatest superstars of all time, and now he wants to defeat the legend killer Randy Orton for what he believes is his, The WWE Championship. Will Chris Jericho hit his new code breaker move on Randy Orton for the victory, or will Randy Orton be the last one standing?... Randy Orton - Randy Orton, the legend killer. Randy Orton has defeated many legends in his career such as Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels and many others, that's where he get's his nick name from. Randy Orton is a third generation superstar who has already made a big name for himself by winning the World Heavyweight Championship and now The WWE Championship, where on this night he defends the title against none other than Y2J Chris Jericho. Randy Orton won't give up that easily and his effective moves such as the RKO and the head punt will be enough to put Chris Jericho out, but will Jericho allow these moves? Easier said than done. Randy Orton had better watch his back as he is facing a tough challenge from the recently returned and fresh superstar who is Chris Jericho. Will Chris apply his most effective manoeuvres? Or will Randy Orton hit his most devastating finishing moves on Chris Jericho for the win? Could there even be a surprise in store?... === Match 7 - Mickie James VS Beth Phoenix === This match is for the prized WWE Women's Championship and Beth Phoenix is defending the title. Mickie James is a four time WWE Women's Champion and she has wrestled some of the greatest Diva's such as the memorable Trish Stratus who retired from the WWE last year. I was wishing that Mickie James would win her fifth Women's title reign , but would it or would it not happen? Would Mickie James manage to hit her devastating tornado DDT on the powerful Beth Phoenix? Or will Beth Phoenix the current Women's Champion on Raw crush Mickie James like she has done to the likes of Candice Michelle?... Mickie James - Mickie James came to the WWE in the year or 2005 from Richmond Virginia, when she was noticed as an obsessed Trish Stratus fan. Mickie James wasted no time in becoming the very talented WWE Women's Champion, and in this match she hopes to get her fifth title reign from Beth Phoenix who Mickie James has never defeated before. I really hope that Mickie James can shine in one of the biggest matches of her career. Will Mickie be able to perform any of her high flying moves to impress the WWE fans and win her fifth women's championship reign from Beth Phoenix? Good Luck Mickie!!!... Beth Phoenix - Beth Phoenix is the most dominant Diva in WWE Wrestling today. She has defeated the likes of Candice Michelle for the Women's title at No Mercy, injured her, and now takes on Mickie James to defend her prized Women's championship against her. Beth Phoenix is such a powerhouse among the women of Raw's roster and the rest of the WWE's Diva's really. Could Phoenix once again crush another challenger with her devastating fisherman suplex which was invented by the great Mr Perfect? Or will Mickie James get in some sneak attacks and pick up the win?... === Match 8 - Edge VS Batista VS The Undertaker === A match that has certainly been a contest waiting to happen. Three former World Heavyweight Champions head into Armageddon where Batista is the current champion. These men know it won't be easy but who will come out on top? Will Edge show why he is The Ultimate Opportunist and go against the rules although there are No Disqualifications in a triple threat match. Will Batista pummel his way through his opponents? Or will The Undertaker be the dominant force in this match one again?... Edge - Edge has been such a sneaky WWE superstar over the years after going against the rules time and time again, trying to find someway to cheat out his opponents out of a victory. Edge has tagged together with the likes of Christian, and everyone's favourite Rey Mysterio. Edge has also been very successful in singles action as he has captured the WWE titles many times from the likes of John Cena. Edge has his nickname, The Rated R Superstar. I am not sure what the R in the nickname stands for, but Edge is no fool as he has won the most titles in the entire WWE in his long career. I can personally say that I don't like Edge or his character and not many of the fan's do, but he is a very good wrestler and will his devastating moves such as the spear or the impaler DDT be enough to destroy The Undertaker or Batista?... Batista - Batista is a definite fan favourite next to The Undertaker. Batista has also captured some titles but fewer than Edge, although Batista only joined the WWE in 2002, but has proved to be a very dominant force among WWE's superstars. Batista is a three time World Heavyweight Champion which is a very successful number. He is also a two time tag team champion and has also won the 2005 Royal Rumble, and Batista was part of the great team of Evolution. Batista's nickname is The Animal, and he is certainly an Animal unleashed in the ring when he enters. Will Batista be able to capture his fourth World title reign by hitting the Spine buster and The Spear on Edge? Or Will he hit the Batista Bomb on The Undertaker? Could Edge or the Undertaker pick up the win over Batista? Batista is one of my favourites in the match next to The Undertaker so I wasn't sure who I wanted to pick up the win. Was I pleased or disappointed with the results?... The Undertaker - There is only one word for this man and that word is Amazing. Ever since coming to the WWF ( World Wrestling Federation ) WWE's former name in the 1990's, and then to the WWE, The Undertaker has been the most dominant force throughout all of the wrestlers on each brand. The Undertaker has been in some of the biggest feud's and matches in the history of wrestling such as the casket match and the Hell In A Cell match. The Undertaker has three amazing moves to finish off his opponents like he has in the past, The Choke slam, The Tombstone Pile driver and The Last Ride Power Bomb. The Undertaker also has a 16 to Nil streak at Wrestle mania which is very impressive, and he also won the 2007 Royal Rumble match. The Undertaker is quite a frightening man, but he is one of the greatest legends still currently part of the WWE and one of the biggest fan favourites. Will The Undertaker, The Phenom, The Dead man be able to pick up the victory and win the World Heavyweight Championship for the second time with a devastating move of his? Or will the other opponents find a way to win?... === Music And Lighting/Effects === In the WWE each superstar has their own unique theme song. These theme songs can come from older music of various artists, or they can come from pieces of artists work inside the WWE. Jim Johnston is in charge of the theme songs for the WWE and makes a very good job of them. Everyone's theme song's are different obviously, as you then know who is on their way out by their music and video entrance. This DVD is in great quality of video and music, another great reason as why you should buy this wrestling DVD. The lighting is also another important fact in the WWE's events. The lighting varies on who enters to the ring. So if it was a dark character there would be no lighting or black or red lighting for the likes of Kane and The Undertaker. The lighting is also very good on this DVD and doesn't flash too much to blind you of course. There are also some effects such as pyro's or fireworks when a WWE star enters the ring which also makes the crowd very lively and warmed up and enthusiastic... === Price === Now a day's you can purchase this DVD for around £10 to £12 which isn't a bad price at all after you pay more to watch the event live on sky box office. You can buy the DVD from most online DVD and Video shops such as play.com or Amazon and even eBay the online market place which has many WWE DVD's. I bought my copy of the DVD for around £15 from an ASDA in Bristol, but now that the event was a little while ago, it is cheaper to buy which is a good thing and may encourage you to add this DVD to your wrestling collection... === Packaging === As for the packaging of the DVD, there isn't much wrapping or protection of course as most DVD's just come in a box with a good cover art on the front of it. This DVD is inside a slim DVD box when you buy it which has a picture of the fan favourite Batista on the cover with a mask in his hand, standing in front of what appears to be an old city which has been demolished and a WWE wrestling ring which has also been broken. This is very relevant to the event as it is called Armageddon, and it just shows you what effect and impact that the WWE superstars have when they wrestle in brutal matches. This is a very clear and colourful cover which would attract any customer to buying the product just because of this fact. The WWE and their seller's are very good at designing cover's like these and are very imaginative which is another great article when buying a product like this... === Some Extra Facts === The content on this DVD is from WWE Armageddon 2007 which took place on December the 16th 2007... There were 12,500 people that attended this event live... The event took place in the Melon Arena of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania... The theme song for this event was The End by Jim Johnston of the WWE team... This is the last WWE event of the year... All three brands, Smackdown Raw and ECW take part in this event... This DVD is suitable for no one under the ages of around 12 or 15 I would say... === My Opinion and Why You Should Buy The DVD === In my honest opinion, I can say this is a very entertaining DVD to watch. When I first began to get into wrestling, I had my doubts whether or not that it was going to be very exiting, but I didn't need to because I was wrong as these WWE event's are extremely exiting to watch live or on the DVD. These matches are quite tense and heart - pounding as you never know who will win... Sometimes the WWE stars show the emotional road to winning the championships in the WWE, some other's just want them because they think that they are the best, there are completely different types of wrestlers who compete at these events which is very entertaining to watch with all of the different styles of wrestling which makes an even bigger impact... I really think that this DVD deserves a lot of credit for it's entertainment factor and all of the storylines behind the event were very well thought out as well. I am going to award this DVD a 9/10 because I was fairly pleased with the results and the DVD overall, only the remaining one point is because of my favourite superstar losing but you will have to find out who that is when you get the DVD... You should definitely invest in this fairly cheap DVD as it is very thrilling to any wrestling fan, and I have also watched this with several other's who aren't into wrestling, and they have said that it is quite compelling to watch. This DVD is an excellent product to add to a wrestling fans collection, so this could be a great Christmas gift, or you may even want to try it yourself, who knows you may even end up liking it?... A definite must have... Thank You For Reading... Send A message If There Are Any Queries... © 2008 J24
