Advantages: Streetfight, Table Match, Rumble, Swimsuit contest

Disadvantages: Mae Young's involvement in said contest, Rumble winner not hard to guess (Rock or Big Show), Tag Title Match

WWE Royal Rumble 2000 was the first pay-per-view event to be broadcasted live on Channel 4 in the UK. It is also the most violent and extreme WWE event, comparable to ECW in many ways.

The first match is Kurt Angle VS "A Mystery Opponent" although it was well known by the time of the event that Tazz would be his opponent. The match is short, but entertaining. The aim is achieved: Tazz is put over as a tough guy and Angle as a cry baby (listen to him moan afterwards).

Then The Dudley Boyz take on The Hardy Boyz in a brutal Table Match. I say brutal because the chair shots are incredibly stiff and the tables seem to explode on impact. It's one hell of a match which must be seen to be believed.

Then Jerry Lawler hosts the Miss Rumble 2000 Swimsuit Contest. It features present day Divas like Terri, Jaqueline and Ivory and departed females like BB, Luna and The Kat. It's a very revealing contest with skin galore (check out the "outfits" on Terri and Jaqui) and is not suitable for young children. It then takes a turn for the worse when OAP Mae Young appears and goes topless (This was a a major cause of C4 dropping WWE programming last year).

Then we have a decent Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental title between Hardcore Holly, Chyna and Jericho. Then there's a ridiculously short Tag Team Title match between The New Age Outlaws and The Acolytes.

The highlight of the show is the brutal Streetfight between Cactus Jack and Triple H, which also led to C4 deciding to end their WWE relationship. Both men absorb incredible punishment and spill pints of blood. It's not for the weak of heart, but entertaining if you can stomach it.

The Rumble itself isn't as spectacular, but after that it had a lot to live up to. It's obvious that either The Rock or The Big Show will win, but it's fun to watch nonetheless.

Royal Rumble 2000 is a great show, but highly offensive
in the eyes of some people. I would recommend parents to view the tape or DVD for themselves first, before complaining to the WWE themselves. The target audience is 18-34 anyaway, so I think that an "18" certificate is very necessary.
