I have heard so many good things about zumba workouts, but I have never wanted to attend classes because I completely lack coordination and wouldn't want to embarass myself. So I was far happier to try this out in the comfort of my own home before attending a class.
This dvd set is aimed at begginers and teaches you the very basics. Now I am used to some of the moves I would definitely go to a class, because I can imagine having even more fun with the music blaring and lots of people around me.
What I love most about this set is that there is an express disc, so you can fit your workout into a shorter time, which is great if you are stretched for time.
There is also an abs dvd, which is so challenging. I felt it in my stomach for days, even though the workout itself didn't feel too strenuous, and I didn't really feel like I was working hard at the time.
It comes with dumb bells (only lightweight ones) but I have never used them. I feel like I am getting a good enough workout without them, and my upper body strength isn't great.
I found this for £90 on amazon, but there are better deals out there as zumba is becoming more and more popular.
Anyone who hates exercise and lacks motivation, should try this because it is so much fun and is really effective.

        Disadvantages

Don't waste your money on these DVDs. Join a class instead.

I started going to a Zumba class and really really enjoyed it. My friend had bought this DVD set and said I could borrow it before deciding if I wanted to buy one for myself. I'm really glad I got to try it out first.

I really wanted a Zumba DVD which would feel like the class I attend but that I could do in my own living room. The class I attend is fast, lively, really fun and you feel like you have done a proper workout at the end of the hour.
Sadly despite the fact that there are 4 dvds in the set and they throw in some free 'Zumba toning sticks' these DVDs are not a patch on a class. The DVDs offer a range of Zumba dance styles and there is a DVD for beginners, shorter workouts, 45 minute workouts etc. However I found them to be really dull and just too slow. I know I can't expect exactly the same as my class but I thought it would at least be similar. I found I was barely out of breath with some of the DVDs and probably going for a jog round the block would have done me more good!
The Zumba toning sticks are quite odd, we don't use any equipment in the class so I wonder if these are just a gimmick. They are really light and annoyingly get in the way as you are dancing. I think if you we're serious about getting fit and wants to use extra props then some hand weights would work far better than these sticks.

I tried the DVDs about 5 times but afterwards I decided not to waste my money on them. They are really expensive selling for up to £40 on some websites! I'm so glad I was able to try them before committing to buy.

Overall if you like to have a good workout and love lively, fast Zumba then steer clear of these DVDs. Find a good Zumba class instead.

Beto should have stayed as the 'creator' and not try his hand at DVDs

This DVD is brought to you by Beto Perez the so called inventor of Zumba. I was extremely dissatisfied with the whole thing.

I go to two Zumba classes a week ran by 2 different instructors and found this DVD slow and disappointing in comparison. I guess for beginners with no Zumba experience this would be helpful but not to anyone who takes their Zumba workouts seriously.

In the time we would do 3 dances in a real class the DVD covers only 1 dance. The real problem here is that they do the same 3 or 4 moves in each dance over and over which gets VERY boring VERY quickly. The whole point of Zumba is that it's energetic and vigorous but you just don't get that from this DVD. There is also points where the move changes but instead of showing us the new move we have a close up on one of the backing dancers smiling away and pretending they are having the best night of their lives.

If the slow repetitive moves aren't enough to put you off then the plastered on grins of the 'pretty people' will do, they look more in pain than happy. This is probably due to the constant cheesy lines from Beto and the singing along to the music.

I suggest you stay away from this DVD. Either get yourself along to a real class or YouTube some real instructors to follow along to.

A great new way to workout

I first started Zumba 2 years ago at a local class. I was instantly hooked and soon ordered the Zumba Fitness DVD workouts.

        Zumba Philosophy
"A Complete Total Body Transformation System Zumba Fitness fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms & easy dance moves to create a dynamic fitness programme Zumba is the new dance craze spreading like wildfire around the world - for good reason too! Originating from South America where rhythm has always been part of the culture of dance, these moves have been transferred and turned into a unique cardio workout".
Created by Beto Perez in Columbia during the 90's it is now a world wide obsession. Their motto is "ditch the workout and join the party". Having done Zumba for a couple of years now both in classes and using these DVD's I feel I can really thoroughly review the Zumba Fitness Discs

The Zumba Fitness Pack comes with 4 DVD's, 2 Toning Sticks and a Diet booklet.

The Toning Sticks are used in some of the routines to add weights to your workout and rattle when you shake them. They don't seem too heavy initially but when used in the workouts really add a new level to your progress.

        The DVD's

The set of 4 DVD's are aimed at introducing you to the world of Zumba, teaching you the steps and getting you exercising.
DVD 1 is Zumba Basics - an introduction and a step by step guide to the moves whilst telling you which muscles they work and the exact movements to ensure you workout correctly. It also introduces you to the music used in Zumba which is Latin inspired

DVD 2 is 20 Minute Express Routine - exactly as it states. 20 minutes to allow you to follow on from DVD 1 and put all the step sequences together. This routine is quiet easy once you have mastered the steps, but is good for sticking on if you are on limited time for your workout.

DVD 3 then moves you on to the Cardio Party and Sculpt and Tone sections. The Cardio Party is a 45 minute workout in a party atmosphere. This really moves your workout up another gear and is ideal for those further advanced. After the hour long workout the DVD moves on to the Sculpt and Tone section, designed to really focus on specific areas to tone them, this section uses the toning sticks a lot.

DVD 4 - Zumba Fitness Live and Flat Abs. Zumba Live is an hour long recording of a Zumba event. This is much harder than the previous DVD's and there are no breaks. Quick, lovely and tiring! The Flat Abs section is a workout designed to work the abs - no sit-ups allowed. All moves are unique and easy to do while still giving your core a workout
The Weight Loss program gives you meal ideas and tips to help supplement the Zumba program to really help you shed those pounds.

The DVD program is ideal for those who want to workout in the privacy of their own home, or supplement their current exercise or Zumba class programme. It is easy for beginners but tasking enough for those with some experience. The DVD's talk you through the steps and routines well and you are not rushed onto the next stage. It really is a new way of working out that's fun and has the party atmosphere so you'll hardly notice you're working out. With varied routines such as Hip-Hop, Salsa, Meringue, Samba and many more you'll even add some new moves to your repertoire!

The Zumba Fitness DVD's are great, and I use them weekly as well as attending classes. They were priced at around £50, which is what i paid as it was still relativily new out, but have now dropped to around £30 on Amazon etc. I still think it was well worth the full RRP even now as it is such a great program! When I first started attending the 2 classes a week and using the DVD system a further twice a week I lost 1 stone in around 4 months. I didn't follow the diet plan and continued eating the same as before and did no other exercise so the weight loss really has to be attributed to Zumba Fitness. I love the DVD's - you can stick them on whenever you feel like it and pick the routines you feel like doing, go at your own pace and dance yourself fit!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Good for those that have time or are familar with Zumba already.

Recently I have been given the complete Zumba set which consists of four CDs and a set of lightweight dumbells. It was given to me by my mum as she bought it from the TV advertisement for I believe £49.99 plus postage and packaging cost. She thought it would be a fun way to lose weight and she would learn a few dance moves unfortunately like most exercise equipment and CDs she lost the motivation and was not finding the time to do it. She also complained that she found doing the dance moves too hard, as she has never attended a Zumba class before.

I will be honest to say I have only done the Zumba fitness workout roughly 5-7 times within the 6 months I have recieved it. The first two times it was not really a work out but more to get familiar with the moves. Even then I did not learn all the moves but decided to start the workout so that I could focus of losing weight more quickly. The Zumba girls do give three easy steps to learn each move but even I feel it is still abit fast paced and too many moves to learn. If you are really into dancing then it is a good way to learn loads of new dance moves as well as losing weight/toning up. But for me and my mum we would have prefered less moves so we can learn them more qucikly and spend more time focusing on doing the work out. The problem is you need to know the moves before you can do the actual work out routines. Othwerwise as they move so quick you won't know what to do and just will randomly move around which you could have done without the CD set.

The first CD is the 'Basics and the 20 minutes express'. In this CD you get to know the Zumba instructors and learn the moves in three 'easy' steps, this will take approximately 60 minutes plus longer as you may need to pause and replay some moves. I have already stated that the moves are not as easy to learn as you would imagine especially if you are a beginner and also that there are way too many moves to learn. Next there is an express 20 minutes workout which is a nice short routine to really get your body moving and is fun at the same time. The music is nice and it is ideal for when you are short of time but want to get an intense workout.

The next CD is 'Cardio Party'. This is of course a cardio workout so it is fast paced, making you really move fast, swinging your hips and giving your whole body a workout. This routine takes about 50 minutes and will get your heart pounding and for maximum benefit you should not take a break inbetween. There is a variety of music and dance styles and this helps keep you interested to continue, because if it was continious with one style I am sure most of the audience would get bored. Some examples of the different styles of dancing used and music is 'Salsa, Reggaeton, Merengue and Samba'. It is fun once you have invested time to learn the dance moves properly and throughly as this routine is fast so if you don't know a move you can't stop and pause it. The music is nice and enjoyable to listen to.

Another CD is called 'Sculpt and tone'. With this you will need to get out your toning sticks, which is basically a longer lightweight dumbell which you get once you purchase this Zumba set. The moves are slower and target in toning and using your muscles more intensely. Zumba claims this will chisel your entire body from head to toe and I'm sure it will, but I have to admit I found this work out the most boring and hard to do. Of course this is natural as toning and putting pressure on your muscles to tighten them up is the hardest for most people. But I also felt it was quite boring to do these moves compared to the fast beat of the Cardio Party.

The last CD I got was the 'Zumba fitness live and Flat abs'. This CD was quite confusing as it firstly shows the main Zumba guy with his girls performing infront of an audience and it showed the audience a lot. I was not sure whether to join in or if it was just there to watch. I felt this way as they were not all the time focusing on the dancers but on the crowd so it's difficult to join in at times. I think perhaps it was just there to show what happens on a live Zumba event. The live Zumba event takes roughly 55 minutes. After that it goes back to normal Zumba style and make you follow moves to target your abdominal muscles. This lasts 20 minutes and I recommend this work out as it was a fun way to target that hard stubborn area and I did feel my stomach muscles working. It was much more fun then the conventional sit up and crunches style.

Overall I do not think it is worth the £49.99 plus money. It is not suited for those that do not have much time and can not be bothered to be commited to spending a few evenings or days learning each move. If you have no experience of dancing it may take you much longer. It is not a quick fix like most exercise programmes but it requires more time and effort. I think most people think they can get the CDs and start straight away and lose weight but it is not like that. The Zumba girls go over the moves too quickly and need to spend time in explaining what they are doing not just showing us.

My mother and I did have some more criticisms while we were intially trying it out. We did not really want to see all these naked stomachs as it made us feel abit weird, as in we felt fat and not like them when doing the moves. We are not saying that the girls should have been fatter not at all as that would have put us off too as we do assume that those that do Zumba regularly are thin. I think that if they wore a Tshirt it would have been better. We also felt abit stupid/embarrassed dancing in the house infront of a TV and we made sure no other adults could see us, but thats something personal and I'm sure most people will not care.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Excellent workout

I am sure there isn't a person left on the planet who hasn't at least heard of Zumba by now, but for those who don't know, Zumba is a dance workout that was created by Beto Perez that involves many styles of dancing, including salsa, hip-hop, mambo, merangue and samba.

There are many Zumba classes available at most gyms and clubs, but if, like me, you cant get to any of these, there are a variety of workout dvd's available. I have 3 children, 2 in full time school, and one in part time, which rules out having time for afternoon classes between school runs, and my husband works night shifts and sleeps in the evenings so I cant go to evening classes either, so having the dvd's at home means whenever I get a free half hour I can pop a dvd on and get my workout in.

The Zumba dvd set I have is the Fitness dvd kit. This comes with 3 dvd's - Basics and 20 minute express, sculpt and tone, and cardio party. You also get a total body transformation guide and two zumba toning sticks if you buy this from the Zumba website (I was given this set second hand and didn't have the transformation guide, or the toning sticks, which I substituted by using two of my dumbbells!)

The basics dvd is great if you have no idea of any of the moves, and if you have never done any Zumba or been to any classes, I highly suggest watching this first. It goes through every section of the workout slowly and teaches you all the moves and the names, so as you progress you start to be able to do the moves just by knowing the names of them. I had to watch this a few times, as I am really not a flexible person and I did find some of the moves tricky and needed to have a go a few times to get them (almost) right.

The 20 minute express dvd is my favourite workout. As it is only 20 minutes long I find its the easiest one to do to guarantee that even on a busy day I can fit a quick workout in. Its fast paced, and involves a warm up, workout and cool down, so covers all bases, and really gets the pace going and the sweat pouring! Even though I can feel this workout doing its job, you cant help but find yourself enjoying it, the mix of the up-temp Latin music, Beto's chirpyness and encouragement, and also seeing the figures his girls have make you really want to put your all into it. He manages to incorporate so many different styles of dance into his workout that it never gets dull or boring, and your body moves in all kinds of ways! I have done the dvd so many times and yet I always find myself quite shocked when this one comes to an end and cannot believe it has been 20 minutes already!
The first few times I did this workout, I really felt it in my entire body afterwards, and every muscle and joint would hurt like crazy for days afterwards, meaning I would only manage it once or twice a week. Eventually my body became more accustomed to it and I can do this 4 or 5 times a week. I still feel the workout on my body, but it's in a good way instead of feeling like I cant take another step!

The sculpt and tone disc is another workout with lots of good music and a whole variety of moves involving different styles of dance. Only this one focuses more on targeting areas of your body you want to tone up and keep in shape. I admit I have only done this workout once, thinking as soon as I get my body to where I would like it to be I would use this dvd to tone myself up instead of giving my whole body a total workout. I havent got there yet unfortunately, but after doing this workout just once, I could feel it working on the individual areas it was targeted at.

I must admit that the cardio party dvd I began to watch but became confused by. I wasnt sure if I was watching a workout dvd I was supposed to join in with, or if this was filmed as a party or a big class that gave an example of what a class was. There were a few people on the stage doing a workout, but it was like it was set in a nightclub with lots and lots of people on the dance floor joining on, so I turned this one off and haven't bothered with it since.

If anyone is looking for a workout that really does get the whole body going, gets you hot and sweaty, but is fun to do and makes you want to do it again, and actually works and helps you lose weight, Zumba is for you. When I first started losing weight, I was about 3 and a half stone bigger than what I am now, and even if I did have the time, I would have felt really embarrassed about attending a class, but now even though I am still big, knowing how much fun Zumba is I would love to attend a class. These Zumba dvds have played a big part in helping me lose the weight I have so far.

Like I said before, I was given my discs second hand so I didnt have to pay for them, and I was shocked when I looked on the official Zumba UK website and saw this set selling for £49.99. It is very expensive for a workout dvd set, as good as it is, so having a quick look online, I see Amazon.co.uk is selling it for £39.00 and Play.com has it on sale for £36.65, so slightly cheaper, but it is the right time of year to add this to your Christmas wishlist!!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

a good workout for those who want to push themselves a bit harder

Ive recently just go back into excersising after the birth of my daughter, and prob like every new mother im finding this time around its hard to shed the weight. At present, my excersise regime consists of cycling and boxing which i find works great for me, but i wanted to try something a bit different to break the regime. After hearing people talking about Zumba and how great it is I wanted to see what the fuss was about!

Since being first available to purchase via TV only, Zumba seems to have taken over the world. It seems every church/community hall/gym has Zumba classes. Class prices around my area range from the cheapest being £3 for an hour-and possibly more expensive depending on where you live ect. So when i seen the dvd set available for £30 from Makro I thought it was really good value for money in the longterm, plus having it available in the comfort of my own home!

The set consists of 4 dvds which contain 6 workouts, 2 shaker sticks (which double up as a baby rattle ;) and a guide to completing the workout which i didnt bother reading as i just wanted to get to the main course!! The routines are all based on latin american dancing including salsa, calypso, ect, which makes it feel like you are having fun without the boring routines of many workouts. There is also a 20 minute express workout for days when you are pushed for time or just feeling lazy, a 20 minutes abs workout which is all done standing up, great if you suffer from back probs, and a live dvd done in front of an audience. A good choice of workouts and saves you becoming bored!

Feeling brave and slightly cocky i decided to go for the 'cardio party' workout which lasts for 55 minutes. I was probably one of those people who said to themselves 'its only dancing, how hard can it be'??? I did find the dance moves a bit tricky, and i felt like an uncle who cant dance at a wedding party. I think most people would find it a bit tricky at first, unless you are familiar with dancing.

what i did notice in this dvd all the instructors are wiry, agile, attractive skinny minnies who had obviously been doing it for a long time, and its probably my paranoia kicking in but it did make me feel rather frumpy and unfit!!

After completing the dvd you really feel like you've had a good work out, i at this point was sweating cobs which is a good thing as i felt like i had actually done something! i felt like i had to push myself on some sections of this dvd which i also liked-after all, 'no pain, no gain!'

Although i think boxing and cycling is more my thing, I still would persevere with zumba as ike with pretty much anything, you need to do it a few times before you see results and master the dance moves.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

if you are looking for fitness and fun (funtness....) then this is the workout for you!!!!

I'm sure you would have seen or heard of zumba, it has spread like wildfire generating hordes of followers, I must confess I am being sucked in, and getting fit in the process.
It has been around since the early 90's but it's just recently been given the admiration deserves.

The general idea of zumba is to mix salsa/Latin style dance with fitness, getting a good workout while still enjoying yourself and having fun, or as the zumba team say PARTYY!!

The music is really catchy you can't help but move along to the beat, most of it is salsa/Latin style but there are other tracks such as belly dancing and hip hop (ish) thrown in as well.

The workout video looks like a party there are people dancing on platforms and even people playing instruments.
The two instructors are great, they are really encouraging and genuinely happy, I quite like the accent's as well.

The workout is quite fast but after a few goes it's easy to pick up and the moves are really fun, my favourite is 'the rock star' it is basically air guitar but incorporating extra muscles and using a bit more energy.

The toning stick weights are pretty nifty because they act as maracas as well, this is surprisingly very fun playing along with the music. They are just the right weight as well not to feel like they are dragging you down but to give you muscles a little extra work.

There are a few types of zumba out there, zumba gold for more mature people, zumba circuit which is high energy exercise they have a workout for kids which they will have fun doing too, they even have aqua zumba!!
And of course the zumba sculpt and tone which is where the toning sticks/maracas come or should I say shake in to it.

So if you are looking to improve your fitness, lose weight or just have a bit of fun this is the workout for you, I promise you will not regret it, If you follow a healthy diet and do zumba a few times a week you will see the benefits, although you may feel like your cheating because it is that fun it doesn't feel like exercise (the dreaded word).

You can buy the DVD set with toning from Amazon, for £34.99, not a bad price considering you get 4 DVDs and the sticks. The zumba website has a lot more variety in worouts to buy so i would advise having a look to see which one is right for you before you try.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            absolutely love this

I'm pretty sure that you are all aware of the craze that is Zumba, whether your knowledge is big or small. I took my first steps into the Zumba pool the other week when I purchased the DVD online, but I also experienced a class last night too so I am sharing my thoughts about both.

Zumba prides itself on using latin songs to produce sexy dance workouts that really shifts the extra weight. Originally starting in 2001, it has become increasingly popular every year. They hold classes in over 110 countries helping millions of people get into shape and feel healthy!

            ZUMBA CLASS (brief explination):

The classes are held all over the country and I am pretty sure there will be one within 5 minutes of your home. If you visit the website www.zumba.com you will be able to find your local centre and find out prices.
The session I attended only lasted for 45/50 minutes including a short warm up and cool down. The cost of the class was only £5 and as it was my first one, I got it for free which is a bonus!

During the class you copy the instructor through around 8 songs. The dance moves go from fast to slow and intense to quite mild but you honestly have so much fun that you will not notice how fit you are getting. (I am very painful today!)

The instructor was very friendly and did make the class giggle with her energy and ways to make the class more fun. Such as pouting and acting sexy during certain moves and giving certain moves funny names such as 'drying your bum'. She was very good at her job and definately made the experience more enjoyable.

            THE DVD:

I brought my DVD set from Amazon as I thought it would be the cheapest - which it was at £40. I feel that this is quite reasonable due to the amount of exercise you get from the dvds. I am aware you can purchase it from music stores, game stores, supermarkets and online for different prices and they sometimes have offers. Recently they released a version for the Wii which I am going to be trying when I scrape together some pennies!

The dvd comes with two dvd cases, with 4 discs in total and two toning sticks which look quite fun. There is also a book which contains tips and tricks for warming up, stretches, eating plans and various other health information. Each disc contains different dance workouts for different types of impact.

The second dvd case contains 3 discs and being called 'Complete Total-Body Transformation System', my first thoughts were that it is going to make me look like a supermodel. I will explain each in detail for you below.

Firstly there is the purple disc, named the cardio party it is the first I picked up as cardio is my favourite type of workout - and party just adds to the fun! The workout lasts for approximately 50 minutes and takes a lot of your energy. Unless you are a hardcore fitness fanatic, I doubt you will want to do any other workout in the same day. I do admit to stopping half way through for a water break as it did get a little too much with the gigantic stitch in my side.

Secondly you have the orange disc. This has 2 workouts. My favourite one has to be the 'Zumba Fitness 20 Minute Express' as it has some of the best songs (in my opinion). This is the main one which really gets me bopping about and it hurts a lot the next morning so I know it has done something to my body. The other one is called 'Zumba Fitness Basic' which lasts for around 60 minutes and shows you the basics of everything. I find that it is probably best to do this on your very first attempt at zumba, as it breaks down the steps to make it easier. It probably stops a lot of the confusion when you get into the more upbeat routines.

Lastly you have the green disc which is named 'Sculpt & Tone'. 45 minutes of what I call club booty shaking using the toning sticks to firm up arms and abs. I find it to be very similar to some of the classes that you have at the gym but a lot more fun. You can definately feel the routine working during and afterwards.

The other disc you get is Live & Flat Abs. It is basically a combination of all the above with a little more thrown in to help you get definition on your stomach and feel more bikini ready. I have not tried this one yet but I am going to tonight.

I have tried to vary my work out using different discs each time I go to workout. I get bored quite easily so I have to change things to keep my mind occupied and wanting to do well. Partly why I think classes would be better as you never know what is going to come next, whereas the dvd you will soon know it by heart.

I must admit, I get more sweaty doing Zumba than I do with any other type of work out - even the gym. I find that it gives me more motivation than just running on a treadmill to music. You really can feel it working and during the dvd you can pause to have a drink whenever you like but it is hard to get back into the rhythm again.

The music is all very latin and similar to what you hear abroad in Greek and Spanish countries. I really felt like I was on holiday! The rhythm of each song has been exadurated perfectly by the moves you do and you really get a feel for the whole thing. There is a thing called 'Rhythm Refreshers' which is to help you go over the steps so you do not get confused, but I have not used this yet so I cannot comment on it.

I seriously could not fault this workout as it never gets boring and the fact you are throwing yourself around to happy, upbeat music makes you feel very alive and energetic.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

Great workout, good music, good fun, great layout and help section

It's official, I have gone for one more potential 'fad' that might help me get the nice flat tummy all it's instructors promise - ZUMBA!

I got it the other day, around £40 from Amazon and as usual I couldn't wait and had it delivered express delivery... do I really want to suffer that quickly?

Let's take this one step at a time....

              ~ The Box ~

Slightly concerned when it arrived that it was long and not at all looking like it could contain standard DVD boxes, that's because it doesn't. It has two long shakey sticks in it, okay toning sticks to give them their preferred name - and two cardboard dvd cases one with one dvd in it and one with three. I shall detail these in a minute. It also comes with a book that shows you how to warm up - gives hints and tips on how to get a sculpted body and lose weight, and even an eating plan that, quite frankly, at the point I didn't understand the ingredients I wasn't going to follow.

Wait I forgot something, it also contains a CAUTION leaflet about using said shakey sticks, sorry toning sticks. They are not toys, yada, yada, yada.... best not let the dog play with them then!

              ~ The DVDs ~

Okay, the first orange DVD case is called the Complete Total-Body Transformation System and has 3 discs in it:

              The Orange Disc:
Zumba Fitness Basics - about 60 minutes of pain, ah sorry workout which shows you the basic steps and teaches you what you're going to be dancing. It's actually very effective, breaking each move down into three sections progressing until you are throwing yourself around doing something that probably doesn't resemble what the girls are doing. I am SURE my hips aren't supposed to do that, but they're surely doing something!
Zumba Fitness 20 minute express: 20 minute get in the mood shake your booty and feel the party... look don't roll your eyes at me it's what it says I am getting in the mood! It's hard, the first time you do it you feel like a idiot, hoping beyond hope that nobody see's you out the window... or that the other half comes down as he will probably have a coronary laughing! But I did it, and it hurt the next day so it has an impact, and in all seriousness it's a pretty good workout.

              The Purple Disc:
I preface this by saying I haven't done this one yet. I am too scared. It's the Cardio Party! 50 minutes... which is quite a big step up from 20! I did watch it and it looks fabulous fun, but I feel intimidated and feel the need to go back and do the basics and the 20 minute express a few more times before tackling this one.

              The Green Disc:
Sculpt and Tone - 45 minutes of shimmying and shaking with the shaky - sorry toning - sticks - using resistance to firm up arms and get some definition. When I can see my hips again I will know this is working :D

There is one more disc case, Live and Flat Abs DVD.
I haven't done this, my abs aren't even visible and could be lost forever, but I live in hope and wonder if the live program could be lots of fun because of the extra people and the live feeling and the non polished choreography that happens when things are live.

              SO:

The Good: I love the music, I love the rhythm, and the feel of dancing, I have to say. The girls that teach the basics are very good and it's broken down very nicely. It may take some time to get all the moves, but you can run the workouts with rhythm refreshers, and if you get stuck you can hit the button and it pauses the workout and shows you how to do the step! Very natty indeed! You can turn this off and run the workouts without these on screen so you can see properly and they don't get in your way when you are confident of the moves.

You do sweat during this, when the guy does it, Peto, it is much more relaxed and he throws himself around very fluidly, the girls who help you along and call out helpful hints, and hit the beats, are much more exercise than dance orientated and give you tips on how to increase the cardio workout throughout.

              The Bad:
There isn't really, the shaky sticks are pretty well made, and make a good sound, the dvds work well and the guide is helpful. The FBI warning on the beginning of the dvd takes ages as does the warning about liability and don't do stuff without medical advice yada, yada, yada, but once you start you start working hard quickly.

              SUMMARY:
If you can put the work in and start to remember the steps the better this becomes, I am getting there, and the music really does lift you. The party atmosphere actually works and it's, for those who know it, similar to the atmosphere in the Tai Bo, Billy Banks, DVDs.

Definitely worth it, now if I can just stick with it and buy some will power and perseverance I can find my abs... been a while, I am sure they missed me :)

The Price - £40 is a bit steep but I hope it will come down in price soon, it's probably not worth that much, and will end up half if not 3/4 of the price in the next few months, it has been marketed to the max with the WII game of it coming out soon as well, but it is not carried everywhere and getting hold of it was until recently a a bit difficult outside Amazon.
