Advantages: nice stadium , decent football

Disadvantages: not best location transport wise

Ashton Gate is the home of Bristol City football club and occasionally hosts rugby matches also for Bristol's rugby team. It has a capacity of just over 20,000.

I visited the stadium a few times for matches last season when I was still studying in Bristol as I had a keen interest in football and was interested in seeing the City's biggest team play.

The prices of tickets are reduced for students and this was a bit of a bonus as normal prices tend to be around £25 for adults I believe. This was for a game in the Coca Cola championship against Southampton. Check out Bristol City's website for the latest ticket details.

The quality of football played was not bad at all and they are a decent team on the way up having narrowly missed out on promotion to the premiership in the 07-08 season losing to Hull City 1-0 in the playoff final at Wembley.

The stadium itself is a reasonable size for a club in this division and its fanbase. I believe there were plans for an expansion of the current stadium to just below 30,000 but that has been scrapped and there are actual plans to build a new stadium not too far from Ashton Gate.

Summary: Decent stadium for an improved team
