      Not The Best In Blackburn

Daisyfield Swimming Baths is located in Blackburn Lancashire. I have recently been trying to get fit and as running has ruined my knees I decided swimming was my best option. Daisyfield is the nearest baths to my house so I thought this would be the best place to use.

The swimming baths is quite an old building. To be honest I would say it's starting to look a little bit dated. The changing rooms are not overly nice. There are two blocks of little cubicles with a red plastic curtain. There is not much room to get changed and if your quite a private person it's not a great place to get changed. There is one larger cubicle with a door on it but this tends to be for disabled use. The showers are not very nice either, I would not say they are dirty but they do look old and in need of painting. I don't really like showering here, but there is no other option. This is the gents changing area, I have no idea what the women's is like!

The swimming baths use a locker system to keep your clothes and other things in. When you enter the baths you are given a token and then after getting changed you pop your token in a locker and you take the key. They key is on a wrist band which straps to your wrist while you swim. This is quite a simple way of doing things and I always feel like my things are safe in the locker.

There is not much other than swimming in the building. There are a few vending machines to buy food and drink and a few tables to sit at, but there are no other facilities for food and drink. The counter where you go in and pay is Ok, the girls on the desk are always friendly and they sell goggles and other swimming bits and pieces. It costs £4 to swim here depending upon the time. I get in for free as I have a bees card which is available to all if you live in Blackburn. This is great as it lets you get into to any sporting facility for free.

The pools are quite good in these baths. The children's pool is of a decent size and having this means that the large pool is not always full of kids. The larger pool is of a good size and is of a decent standard. The temperature is always perfect and the chlorine levels are never to high. There is a Speedo on the wall so you can time yourself and there are a few viewing areas around the pool.

Overall this is not really a great swimming baths. However as it's close by and I get in for free I don't mind using it. I thing if they spent a little money on bringing the changing areas up to scratch it would be a much nicer place! The large pool is fine though and I suppose that's the most important thing. If you are visiting the area I would not recommend this pool as there are nicer ones in Blackburn. However if you live in the Daisyfield area and have a Bees card then this is for you.
