Advantages: 25,000 Capacity. Easily Accessed by Public Transport. Decent Room in seats.

Disadvantages: Cover over main stand won't keep everyone dry. How many people watch Athletics?!

Don Valley Stadium is a Sporting Venue located in Sheffield, England. It was completed in September of 1990 at a cost of £29 million. It is named after the River Don located nearby & was opened in time for the World Student Games of 1991

The Stadium has a seated capacity of 25,000 people making it one of the largest Athletics venues in the UK. The stadium also claim that for concerts, with people standing on the pitch, the capacity is 50,000. It is currenty home to both the Sheffield Eagles Rugby League team & Rotherham United Football Club of Coca-Cola League 2 (although this is a temporary measure). The main grandstand holds 10,000 people & is the focal point of the stadium. Most sporting events held here have the home team in this area.

As a music venue it has played host to Def Leppard, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner & most recently U2. It continues to attract large names to the north of England.

I have watched Rugby & Football in this stadium although I have never seen a concert here. There is a covering of sorts over the main stand, although if you are in the lower tier or anywhere else in the stadium in rain, you will get wet. The seats are an average size. Legroom is not too bad compared to some places that I've visited. Also fans have access to a licensed bar which serves alcohol (for football, this is not allowed pitchside)

If you are an Eagles fan or a Miller, you have no choice but to watch your team play here. For concerts, I would recommend the venue. There is easy access to the city centre via tram & also some Hotels located within walking distance to allow visitors from further to attend.

Summary: Not a bad addition to South Yorkshire but could be used a lot more
