The stand retains a lot of the noise due to the raking roof above it so the atmosphere can be fantastic when people are in full voice. The Stockport County fans are generally very good when it comes to noise and when the stadium is packed out with the fans making a noise it is a great sight. Edgeley Park is the home of Stockport County Football Club and Sale Sharks Rugby Union Club and as a Stockport County supporter, that is the point of view I will naturally take on this review. It is placed in an ideal location as a pedestrian as Stockport train station is a short walk away and regular buses run close to the ground as well. This makes it easy for visiting supporters travelling by train in particular, especially compared to many other clubs who have new stadiums practically in the middle of nowhere! Edgeley Park is home to both Stockport County football club, and the Sale Sharks rugby union team, hosting matches from August through until May every year. Because of the dual tenancy (inceasingly common as teams look to share costs), the Edgeley Park playing surface often resembles something closer to a mudbath in the winter months, and the quality of football and rugby on offer inevitably suffers as a result. For County games, attendances rarely fill the modest capacity, now that the team is currently sitting in the lower reaches of the football league, and few matches on sale are enticing enough to draw the crowds in. When I die this is where my ashes are going, not in some urn which the England Cricket team now has possession of. This ground is like a packet of KP's, you open it up and you will find a bunch of nuts. Things have not been good in any respect for a while, but things are improving believe it or not. Only problem we have is that we don't own Edgeley Park, Sale Sharks do. And althought im happy that they have been very successful I do wish that it was ours. The fans who come to watch County are crazed freaks, most of which are used to being laughed at, but they have one thing that is an important part of being a county supporter and that is PRIDE! ...
