With the rise and rise of the Irish International team, what would be more fitting than to have a stadium that we could be also be proud off. The press releases presented an image of a stadium that would as modern as a 21st Century stadium should be. For all football fans in Ireland it was a dream come true. Since the announcement of the FAI's intentions, however, embarrassment has turned to farce. There is a huge debate going on here in Ireland as to whether or not the FAI should go ahead and build their own stadium. The proposed new stadium is called Eircom park and it is due to be completed by the autumn of 2002. Personally I think that the plan should go ahead. It's about time the FAI had their own venue and do not have to rely on the availability of grounds belonging to other organisations. The stadium will be a world-class venue that reflects our pride, our passion, and our love of sport, music and entertainment.
