Advantages: FAI would have it's own stadium

Disadvantages: Might create some financial pressure

There is a huge debate going on here in Ireland as to whether or not the FAI should go ahead and build their own stadium. The proposed new stadium is called Eircom park and it is due to be completed by the autumn of 2002.

Personally I think that the plan should go ahead. It's about time the FAI had their own venue and do not have to rely on the availability of grounds belonging to other organisations.

The stadium will be a world-class venue that reflects our pride, our passion, and our love of sport, music and entertainment.

The stadium will be, literally breathtaking - featuring a sliding roof and a fully retractable pitch, unique in international football.
