Advantages: Easy to play, good in bad weather

Disadvantages: Not very long, some holes not very challenging

Falkirk Tryst Golf Club is actually in Stenhousemuir, which is about 4 miles out of Falkirk. The course is built on very sandy ground, which actually gives the turf similar characteristics to a links course, but unusually it is very flat, with only a couple of very gently sloping holes, the 16th and 17th. It is also quite short being around 5500 yards long.

There are a number of good holes, the 11th is a challenging par 3 of just under 240 yards, with heavy gorse down the left and round the back of the green. Th short 15th has a carry over an old quarry and a greenside pond juts into the front left of the green.

The 18th is a tester, normally into the prevailing wind with out of bounds all the way down the right hand side, which really piles on the pressure if you need a par to finish with a good score, as the out of bounds really comes into play on a long second shot to the green.

This course is ideally suited to anyone who does not like to exert to much energy, it provides some good challenges while not being overly difficult, but does require a reasonable degree of accuracy on some holes to avoid the hazards.

Facilities are excellent with the food in the bar being of very high quality at reasonable prices.

Visitors are welcomed during the week but not at weekends. The costs are Monday to Friday before 4pm Round: £18 Day Ticket: £27, which is good value.

Wow I never thought I would find an op on this here! My dad has been a member of this course for over 20 years now. Did you know that they are thinking about selling the course and moving?
