Great Ground, shame about the team...

As a follower of Southampton its terrible viewing of news reports over the past few years, but you can take nothing away from the stadium itself, its magnificent and its double the size to that of their previous ground, "The Dell"

St Mary's is a 32,689 seater stadium which cost around 32million to build of which Saints moved into in 2001. I have been to St Marys several times and the design of the enclosed stadium encaptures the atmosphere which adds to the experience. It is shaped like a bowl, equal height the whole way round. The stadium consists of four stands, in whch ticket prices vary, Itchen Stand, Kingsland Stand, Northam Stand and the Chapel Stand.

In the Itchen Stand there are 42 executive boxes and a police control room. The stand also houses the club's offices, changing rooms, press facilities and corporate suites

Prices range from £22 to £28 depending on where you sit, which compared to that of premiership clubs and their stadiums is very reasonable. It is very easy to get to St.Marys and from a distance it looks beautiful. The Bars and food places located inside St Mary's serve high qulity food and drink, and the staff are very pleasant.

From personal experience i would recommend calling into St Mary's to watch a match, as it is definetly better than most league 1 standard grounds.

Summary: Worth £20 to enjoy a good day out

I've not been to St Mary's, but the old Dell standard had a certain inimitable atmosphere.
