Advantages: good facilites to play football/options to join leagues/tournaments

Disadvantages: a bit pricey/rubber bits on pitch

I have played in a few Goals soccer centres around London and they are the leaders in terms of the 5 a side football market in the UK. The company was founded in 1987 and has 31 branches around the Uk with another 4 currently under construction. Depending on the branch in question there will be a certain number of 5 a side pitches and also usually one or more 7 a side pitches.

You can find out the location of you nearest goals by going onto their website http://www.goalsfootball.co.uk/ and enter your postcode and they will find you your nearest one. You can also now book a pitch online as well as entering leagues and tournaments and making other enquiries. I do not usually organise when I do play thankfully as getting 10 people or sometimes more together can be a pain at times and am grateful to the people who do organise instead!

The prices will depend on when you play with weekday evenings tending to be most expensive with weekends (Sat-Sun) and other off peak times being cheaper. If you are playing five a side the prices vary from £42 for off peak times up to around £64 on weekday evenings. I play quite a bit on weekends sometimes and the place is generally alot more free and if you pay for an hour you can usually play for alot longer. With 10 people it is just over £4 each. The 7 a side pitches will cost a little more.

The facilities are very good and are looked after well. There are showers, a changing area, toilets and also a bar. The bar can also be hired out for parties which may or may not be football related. There are also options to hold kids parties at the venue with a football session also.

As well as hiring out casually there are options to join leagues and enter tournaments. More details about this are available on the web site. One of the things that is a little annoying is the rubber bits that they have on the pitch and these do get into your shoes and socks and can be a bit annoying but overall it is a great place to play the nations favourite sport!

Summary: great place to play football/keep fit
