Advantages: A good staidum with good access and atmosphere

Disadvantages: Queens park play here alot so pitch ca be torn up often

Situated in Glasgow Hampen stadium is the home of Scottish Football, and the national team. Queens Park also use this stadium as well as music events and other sporting events are also held here.
Built in 1903 it has now celebrated over 100 years.

2014 will be Glasgows commonwealth games and Hampen will be the main stadium used, mainly for athletics events.

The stadium itself holds 52,103 people, all seated and although its oval in shape, has 4 stands, North, East, South and West. The North stand is known at Scotland games to be the loudest, as they never sit down and are constantly in full flow of a song. This is known as the Hampden roar.

Hampden is one of Uefas five star stadiums, and this allows it to host events such as the Champions League final, and it didn this in 2002 as Real Madrid beat bayern leverkusen. It has also since hosted the Uefa cup final in 2007.

The stadium holds the highest ever attendance at a football game in europe , in 1937 when 149,415 people attended Scotland vs England, a record which still stands today, and is unlikely to be beaten ever, due to new seating requirements.

Hampden is situated just outside the city centre, and can be accessed easily by walking from the city centre or by train from central Station and getting off at Mount Florida, right beside the Stadium, this train is however, extremely busy on matchdays.

I have had good and bad memories from this stadium, depending on the results of the games, however the stadium itself has never caused any porblems to me. Which is very good. I would recommend attending a Scotland game at this stadium as the atmosphere is amazing, and is hard to beat.

However, watch out for very busy exits and trains, and the huge que's after games to get back ont he train and Mount Florida. Quick tip, walk to the next train stop and you get on much quicker.

Summary: A brilliant place for the home of Scottish Football

Or come to my house after the game for a beer and wait for the crowds to disperse - I only live a five minute walk away ;-) Caroline xx
