It is not as large as some of the others like Wimbledon or Walthamstow which has now closed down anyway. But that is part of the appeal. For anyone who is not aware Dog racing is a sport run by greyhounds. The dogs chase a mechanical hare around a track. The hare is released first and the dogs start from traps when it passes the starting trap. A gate is automatically triggerred to release the dogs and they being racing. The idea is not to catch the hare as that is a lure so they chase something but the winner is determined at the winning post in the same way as horse racing after a pre-determind number of laps.
